Change the location of my Premium Family plan, but get get a not-elegible error

Solved!

Change the location of my Premium Family plan, but get get a not-elegible error

We moved from Mexico to the USA. I have a Mexico Premium family plan, and want to change location to the USA.  When I try do that, I get an error saying that I am not eligible for a Family plan, but it seems I can activate a single user one.  We do not want to lose our playlists so I do not want to activate a single user plan and lose all my kid´s accounts.

Hey @pmc1224,

Thanks for getting back to me.

Yes, if you cancel your subscription, all members of your Premium Family plan (including you) will revert to Spotify Free on the next billing date. Once you’re all on Free, everyone will be able to update their country settings to the US without any problems using the steps in this guide:

https://support.spotify.com/article/country-region-settings/

After that, you can subscribe to a US-based Premium Family plan with your new payment method from the US. Once subscribed, you’ll be able to invite everyone back into the Family plan as usual.

Let me know if you have any other questions 🙂

Hey @pmc1224,

Thanks for coming to the Community.

To update your account’s country setting, you’ll need to update your payment method to one from your new country, since you’re on Premium. You can do this by following the steps here: https://support.spotify.com/article/update-payment-details/

If that doesn’t resolve things, you can cancel your current subscription. On your next billing date, all accounts on your Premium Family plan will automatically switch to Free. After that, everyone will be able to update their country settings without any issues by following these steps: https://support.spotify.com/article/country-region-settings/

Don’t worry—canceling your plan won’t affect the content saved in your library. Your playlists, liked songs, and other saved content will stay exactly as they are. And since each account on a Premium Family plan works independently, changes to your account won’t impact anyone else.

Hope this helps 🙂

Thank you.  I tried to update my payment setting to a US credit card, but I got an error that I needed to change my country first.  And when I attempt to change my country, I can only sign up for an Individual premium account.

From what you said, all the other accounts would switch to free if I do that, right?  But them, how do I get a US Premium Family plan?  And how do I get all the accounts back into it?
