can you be a bug?
I use the weekly playlist a lot, normally it's very varied with what I listen to, but this week I only got reage and old ska, I have a playlist just like that but I don't listen to it more than others.

Experiencing the same thing! My Discovery Weekly playlist today is entirely one genre of songs from 5-15 years ago. These are all extremely popular songs and by artists I know quite well, when it used to be rare for me to even recognize more than a handful of artists on it. What I got today seems to be more similar to one of the daily playlists. Please change it back, Spotify!
Hi - the last two weeks, the content of my Discover Weekly playlist has radically changed. Suddenly the tracks included are mostly from just one genre of many I listen to, none of them are new (i.e. from 2022), and most of them are ~15 yrs old.
Prior to 10/17/22, my Discover Weekly playlist was almost all tracks from 2022, many from artists that were new to me, or new tracks from artists I regularly listen to. I digested this playlist every week and greatly appreciated it.
Please bring that version back! Thanks.
Hi All ~
Been listening to Spotify for years and have subbed to Premium for the last year. Yes, the Premium sub is super worth it, wish I had done it sooner!
Now usually I look forward to Monday mornings to get the Discover Weekly playlist and almost always the algorithm get at least 20 of the 30 songs just right. But **bleep**, this week it's like a playlist for my evil twin brother* Stanislaw! I actually HATE ~ 25 of the songs that Spotify recommended. Now if your algorithm is trolling my listening pattern, how in heaven's name did they come up with the anti-me playlist?
Anyone else have this issue?
* - and no, I do not have an evil twin brother named Stanislaw, or even a brother for that matter. But I do have a big sister and she is not evil, maybe a bit preachy, but definitely not evil.
Same here. Last was diverse and unique, noise and electric and lofi and crappy mixes and eclectic. Now this week I'm stuck with dad hard rock and rock n roll covers of classic songs like when did I ever say I wanted this?
I've got the same issue, instead of new discoveries, playlist of some old random hip-hop tracks. Not crazy about it
Same here. Please fix it! I almost started crying when I saw what songs are in my 'discover weekly' playlist this week. At first I thought this was April Fool's except it's October.

So this week my discover weekly is not accurate and I know that for a fact. It’s full of nothing but underground rap and hip hop Which I’m into, but this 30 song selection maybe looks like a list from when I first had Spotify 6 years ago. I’m not sure what the deal is but I’m pretty disappointed because I use DW ritually. Any advice is appreciated.
Not sure if it’s connected but I got a pop up last week that said something like “you’ve listened to 200 genres last year. You were in the top 1% of genre explorers. Can you beat that this year?” I’ve never seen that before. Maybe just my regular listening will fix the problem but I’m worried something happened to reset it or whatever. TIA!

My Question or Issue
Up until this week, my discover weekly has been more or less in the genre of music that I tend to listen to. Then on Monday a new discover weekly playlist came into my account and it was 100% country music. No deviation from that genre.
If you look at my listening history I play exactly zero country, with maybe one or two songs that are in a hybrid genre, but mostly leaning towards indie, electronica, and some folk music.
Yet right now my playlist is 100% Garth Brooks and Keith Urban and it's absolutely absurd and I would never listen to any of it, I have disliked every song in the playlist but I don't understand why it is this way. Also I have an alarm that plays discover weekly automatically that I wasn't home for so now I have a bunch of country music in my listening history which will ruin all of my recommendations here on.
Please help, this is terrible I hate country music.
I've had the same issue this week and it's not a genre that makes any sense. My listening lately has been no different to normal and yet my discover weekly is solely made up of mid noughties pop/country ballads, the kind of songs I maybe listen to a couple of on occasion, not enough to justify a playlist of 30 of them. Ordinarily I really enjoy my discover weekly and have a good like rate but this one has been such a disappointment and doesn't make any sense with my regular listening. I'm not sure why this has happened, but it's a really disappointing change in what is normally a good playlist for finding new music.
The same thing happened to me. I listen to exclusively EDM and my discovery weekly has been 100% hard techno for the past few months. Now it’s 100% rap starting this week. I haven’t listened to rap in months and have never had a discover weekly that was ALL rap and zero EDM.

The discover weekly worked fine till this week, but now the suggestions don’t reflect my preferences in any way. It seems to be a general good oldies playlist, is the algorithm changed to age specific time slots or so. Never had such a bad selection.
Does anybody have any ideas? Staff? Anybody listening?
My spotify account is essentially ruined as it's completely taken over by country now, like a really bad joke.
It's the next week and my discover weekly seems back to normal.
@SPOTIFYDEVS You should know there was clearly a bug in your system that changed everybody's preferences for a week.
I am so sorry I ever started listening to Medieval Lofi whenever I take a nap or just lay down and do some breathing exercises. For those of you not familiar with this selection, it's kinda/sorta like New Age music.
Now Spotify thinks that Medieval Lofi is my "go to" music style and it has absolutely ruined my Discover Weekly experience. Like for instance today Monday, 8/19, of the 30 songs in Discover Weekly, fully NINETEEN were Medieval Lofi. That's 19 songs that I had to manually skip.
Look IRL I'm an accountant, not an IT gearhead, but I can't imagine that a service as wildly popular as Spotify cannot develop a better algorithm where the subscriber can select the various genres that are of interest to YOU the listener.
And don't even get me started on the default voice for the DJ beta.
Yes, this has happened to me on numerous occasions. Some weeks the Discover Weekly selections are excellent (I'll skip less than 5 songs), but the last couple of weeks the selections have been horrible and I'll skip 20-25 songs out of 30. I wish I could de-couple Medieval Lofi from the algorithm so I can get to listen to Prog/Alt Rock especially from up and coming women artists.
