My Question or Issue
My library constantly re downloads when I go into the app the following day. I have erased the app and library and re-downloaded three times very frustrating and time consuming . This uses up data when not in a wifi area .
Hey @Claymore5,
Thanks for reaching out and kudos for the troubleshooting you've tried so far.
As a next step, can you please make sure you have enough free space on your device? Also, is this happening with all playlists you've downloaded or only with specific ones? Are they Spotify-created ones or your own?
Keep us posted.
Hi
Thank you for your reply. It is my own playlists . It seems not to be a complete playlist but songs off various . If I go to my library it can say , for example , downloading 560 of 1100 , or 750 of 1200 . It varies each time . Thanks
Mike
Hey @Claymore5,
Thanks for getting back to us.
Just to confirm, is this only happening on your iPhone or on other devices as well?
If this only happens on your iPhone, it's well worth running a clean reinstall to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble. Keep in mind that you'll have to re-download your content afterwards.
On another note, if you don't want the app to download the content while connected to cellular, you can head to the app settings and turn Download using cellular off.
Let us know how it goes.
Hi
I have tried the reinstall twice and had to reload all my playlists. Very time consuming and frustrating, have deleted the app etc . I have to have data switched off at all times so it doesn’t continue to re-download and use up my plan data . Wifi is an issue currently so I am gradually losing my downloads . Currently at 1021 of 1659 . I am on a duo plan . My partner doesn’t have a problem with her iPhone 7 .
I don’t know what else to try
thanks
Mike

Hi . I haven’t heard anything, the problem remains . Thanks
Hey @Claymore5,
Thanks for posting.
As a test, can you please "un-download" any playlists that haven't been created by you and see if the issue persists? If most of your downloads are other users' playlists, the reason for this behavior could be that the playlists get updated and the new content needs to be downloaded additionally.
Keep us posted.
Hi , thanks for the advice . It seems it is other playlists , not my own . Some are bands ‘radio’ playlists. So I guess maybe it is these being updated , but 300 + per week seems a lot . Maybe I will I download some of these . It still all means I am using data when not in a wifi area to either listen or download the updates . Not too bad in the UK but it is an issue abroad with data limitations.
Hey @Claymore5,
Thanks for your reply.
Just to confirm, have you already turned Download using cellular off in the app settings?
When this option is deactivated, the app won't download any content until your device is connected to a WiFi network again.
Hope this helps. If you need a hand with anything else, the Community is here for you.
Hi
I haven’t found a solution, but have done all the actions listed and lived with it . However I am now losing 3-400 tunes a day , which start to reload when I access my library . Sometimes it’s 300 out of 700 sometimes it’s 700 out of 1100 for example . These then take 20 mins or so to reload . I have thousands of songs in my playlists and really don’t want to risk losing them . Really frustrating.
Hi there @Claymore5,
Thanks for your reply in this thread.
First up, let us know the make/model and OS of the device along with the Spotify version you are currently running. Also, does this happen every time you restart the app?
On another note, go to the Spotify app > Settings > Audio Quality > Download. From there, try changing the quality of the downloads to check if that makes a difference. If it's on Low/Medium/High/Very high, try changing it to Automatic, or vice versa.
