My Question or Issue

Is Spotify Blend simply tallying the most played songs of the year?

To provide more context, blend (although it updates daily) - still includes songs from June/July that are no longer relevant to my current listening habits, embarrassing when this is shared with my friends. These aren’t the kind of songs that appear in my daily mixes, I won’t be surprised if they’re in my end of year Wrapped, because they were listened to frequently several months ago - but I don’t wish to know what my Wrapped is until the surprise of when it is announced.

Is it that Blend doesn’t reflect current listening habits? - like the daily mixes, discovery and playlist suggestions. Are there plans to update Blend in the future, or should I stop using this feature.

Hi @jcwe,

Thank you for posting on the Community and welcome!

The Blend feature creates a mixed shared listening experience and it's not necessarily a sole reflection of the most played songs of the year.

Instead, it creates an intersection of your and other user's compatible music tastes, allowing you to learn more about your musical overlap with one another, and listen together. It should update regularly, allowing you to see different music every time it does.

Hi MafeG,

Thanks for the prompt response, I've read the spiel on Blend but I still have one more question, having given it some more time - I'm counting down the days until some songs (that have been there every single daily updated Blend since I started Blend 1st of August) are replaced with songs I actually listen to, given it's now November I was hoping they'd be replaced long ago. In fact I was hoping more variation as a whole, similar to how diverse a daily mix updates... The songs that refuse to be replaced with current listening habits are in every single playlist (I have about 12 blends on the go at the moment with people of varied music taste.)

I just get a sense this is a problem with the algorithm not updating properly? Certainly not updating in a way any of the Daily Mixes (or any 'for you' playlists) update.

I hope, hope, hope this feedback is taken on board and the Blend algorithm is updated ASAP to incorporate a more diverse array of music, more often, because it honestly feels like the same song is paying to be there every day (I'm sure this isn't the case but currently Blend makes me look very boring, and my music taste isn't boring, it's very explorative!)

thanks!

I've spent so much time on the internet trying to find others experiencing a similar problem but I'm not having much success, there's not much conversation around Blend at all, I just wish I could pass this feedback on to the team (or even for them to have a look at my Blend algorithm and find out if something's wrong).

If you need clarification on anything let me know! Thank you!
