It takes too much time to remove music from my playlists

It takes too much time to remove music from my playlists

I have several playlists that I update every week with the latest songs. However, I want to limit my playlist to 50 hours of music, so I delete the oldest songs to make room. The deletion works fine for 2-3 songs, but then it suddenly starts taking more and more time, to the point where I have to restart the app if I want to continue. I don't understand how this is possible, thank you for your help 😄
I have this problem both on windows and on android, I already tried to reinstall the app, delete the cache but nothing seems to work...

Hi there @iLLuMiiNaTy,

Welcome to the Spotify Community!

The amount of songs you have in your playlists could be a contributing factor to this. In any case, have you tried removing multiple songs at once via the desktop app to see if that's more efficient? Here's how:

  1. Set the sort order by Date added (ascending) and click on the song at the top.
  2. Scroll down to the desired position, hold the Shift key on your keyboard, then click on the last song you'd like to remove. This will also select all songs in between.
  3. To delete the tracks press the Del/Backspace key or right-click on any of the songs >  Remove from this playlist.

If you haven't already, it's also worth trying to remove the songs via the Web Player.

Hope this helps. Cheers 🤘

Hello!

Thank you very much for the feedback; I didn't know about this function, and it will be very useful for me in the future, so thanks again.

However, whether it's this method or using the Web Player, it doesn't solve my problem. In fact, I tried deleting about twenty songs at once, but only the first one was deleted immediately, while it took about 5 minutes to delete the rest. (All at once, though).

I also tested it on a smaller playlist (about 16 hours), and the same problem occurs, so I don't think the size of the playlist is the issue.

Hey @iLLuMiiNaTy,

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info shared.

To continue investigating this behavior, it would be great if you could have someone log in with their account on your device - such as a friend or a family member, to see if the device takes the same time deleting the tracks. This will help us understand if it could be account-related or not.

Also include in your next response the make, model, and OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running.

We'll be on the lookout.
