Issue:
I have been experiencing a very irritating app issue.
I will describe in detail:
- Once the local files are completely uploaded to the "local files" playlist, they can be played, I even organize them in a playlist created by myself to give them the order in which I want to listen to them, well, the default order of Spotify does not I like it.
- Once all the songs are uploaded and playable, the problem occurs.
- If I eventually close the app or stop using it for a couple of hours or change the network, sudently many of the songs desappear as if they had not been loaded and I have to reload them again and again. It's very irritating.
-Some are even available, but most of them need to be uploaded again, however, this reprocess is not always effective because it usually always leaves several songs unuploaded.
I have tried several possible actions without success:
- Delete/update the application on the computer and the iPhone 14Pro.
- Change the localization of local files.
- Upload and download playlist files form the app
- Rename files and more.
I have done these procedures for a long time, perhaps since I have a Spotify subscription. Eventually the error stops appearing and I can listen to the files without them disappearing but now they NEVER stay in the playlist and it's very irritating.
I am available to find a solution to this problem together and if you require a video call I can do it. I appreciate you giving me real solutions, because I have seen responses in the community to problems similar to this and you always propose reinstalling the application, which I have done repeatedly.
Thanks.

Hey @Juancamed and @dragonsprings,
Welcome to the Community!
To start, could you let us know if you have the local files stored on your phones, as the desktop mobile sync isn't fully supported anymore?
We also recommend checking out this help article and that you follow the steps there again in order to sync the local files.
Keep us posted on how it goes 🙂
Im having the same issue and can’t find any fixes. It doesn’t seem to be happening for any of my previously uploaded local files but all new local files aren’t available once I am no longer connected to the network or I close the Spotify desktop app. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!
I am running into the same issue after the playlist order issue on android got fixed. My local file playlist will not retain specific songs on it no matter what i do even though prior to the fiasco it was fine.
Samsung s10 with android version 12.
Spotify 8.9.10.616

Hi Ivelina.
Files are stored in the deskstop.
I didn't get "as the desktop mobile sync isn't fully supported anymore", could you elaborate more please!
🙏🏼
So does this mean that local files essentially don’t work anymore? Sorry if I'm just confused but it sounds like you’re saying that we can’t sync them anymore.
Hi, again Ivelina,
I've checked the link to "this help article". It Worked! I've been testing the changes, and I've managed to keep the files in the iPhone (not synced) and I can play them.
Information was beneficial in finding alternatives to the issue, it is not the most practical solution but at least I can play the local files.
I tried to do the process and it kind of worked. It took me a bunch of time to try and understand, I think I've nailed it.
Thanks for your help.
I seem to be having a different issue that is causing this I'll probably make another thread to get my issue sorted out
Hey there folks,
Thanks for posting in this thread!
@joelezak & @dragonsprings - Spotify recently did some changes to the way local files works. This means that you sometimes may encounter issues with syncing them between different device, and some users may no longer be able to sync them at all. To ensure that you'll be able to listen to the local files on your phone, you need to have the actual tracks stored on your phone as well. Once they're physically stored on your phone, just head over to the app settings & switch on Show audio files from this device.
You can find more details on how to use local files by following the link in the latest reply from @Ivelina. Keep in mind that some formats might not be supported, feel free to check this page for more info.
@dragonsprings - should it still appear to be a separate issue after double-checking the steps on the support page, feel free to start a new thread and we'll investigate further.
@Juancamed - That's great news, happy to hear it worked out for you! 🙂
Hope this clear things up! We're just a post away if anything else appears.
