My Question or Issue

I've had a problem for weeks with local files not updating no matter what I do, but today I tried turning the local files off and back on and the folder just didn't come back. I've tried restarting spotify, doing a clean install, choosing a different folder, restarting my pc, deleting the cache, and deleting the the playlist files.

I would like to add that problems like this are not new or unique, people, including myself, have been dealing with them for years. The level of testing that spotify does before releasing something is unacceptable

Hi there @SVADHI,

Thanks for reaching out. Could you please provide us the following:

  • Is this on all devices or only on that specific Windows PC?
  • Does it happen with different files too? Try replacing the files with different ones and see if the same happens.
  • What is the source of the files you're trying to use?
  • Screenshots or a video of the behaviour

With this information, we’d be happy to investigate.

Keep us posted.

I have not tried on other devices because I am worried about not being able
to access my local files. What do you mean try with different files? The
entire "Local Files" folder is not showing up in Spotify, as shown in the
screenshots below.

Hey @SVADHI,

Thanks for your reply.

We understand where you're coming from. Unfortunately, we couldn't visualize the screenshots you mentioned since they apparently didn't upload in your previous reply. Would you mind sending us the pictures again? It'll help us a lot. You can also send us, if possible, a video recording of this behavior. You can attach it in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public so we can visualize it.

On another note, would you mind sending us the exact Spotify version you're running on the affected device? Did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event, such as an OS update? If yes, please send us the details.

Lastly, when we mentioned trying with different files, we meant you to try (if possible) with other audio files to check if this behavior persists. You can add them to the folder you used to put them in before. It'll also help us better understand this behavior if you open a different account on the affected computer and check if this inconvenience persists there.

Keep us in the loop!
