My Question or Issue

So I usually don't mind being suggested tracks once a playlist finishes, beyond Spotify's usual tendency to suggest the same tracks over and over again, but this has been annoying me.

I was listening to a completely beatless Spotify playlist I put together recently and once it got to the end the vibe was entirely killed by a thumping house track coming on straight afterwards - sure, my library might be more than 50% house tracks but that doesn't mean I want my playlist specifically called "Not Dance Music"  to be suggesting dance music to me!

These kind of suggestions happen all the time, but usually they are at least similar.

How do these suggestions get generated? Why does it seem to be more influenced by my entire Library than the actual playlist its supposedly generated from?

I know I can tell it not to suggest that song, but that's one song, and I can already see another 4 from the same artist in the radio! It needs to be more of a "you have missed the ball entirely, rethink the whole algorithm" type of button.

Not sure if a suggestion or question, but I can't be the only one that's experienced this

Hi there @harryjhornby,

Thank you for your reply and feedback.

The algoritmen uses many factors. We're always testing things by adding or removing features to make Spotify better overall and we’re constantly aiming to improve our features.

The Idea Exchange is a great way for us to see what our users are interested in and how many people like a certain idea. You can read more about it here.

You can read more about how your feedback reaches Spotify here.

Once again - thanks for the feedback, we appreciate it. Let us know if we can help you with anything else.

Take care!
