My Question or Issue
I basically only listen to music that i've downloaded. My work wifi blocks a lot of connections, including to Spotify. If my phone is connected to wifi, the albums page takes minutes to load. I assume it's trying to connect to Spotify and ultimately times out. To work around this, I can disconnect from wifi and it'll load when connect to LTE or put Spotify in offline mode.
I would prefer it that if I'm trying to play a downloaded song, the app should load and play instantly. Any updates should take place in the background.
Hey @antaresiv, thanks for reaching out to the Community!
Could you try a clean reinstall of the app? If that doesn't help, could you let me know your iOS version of your iPhone X?
Keep me posted 🙂
No change on reinstall. issue persists
iOS 12.3.1
Hey @antaresiv,
It seems like you're not on the latest iOS version. The latest version of your iPhone X is iOS 12.4.
You can update your device by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
Let me know how things go 🙂
Nope, issue persists
Hey @antaresiv,
Thank you for your reply!
There might be an issue with the Cache on your device. Could you try following the steps provided here for your iPhone device, making sure to remove all devices listed you see when performing step 2?
Once you install the app as new, you can connect to an unrestricted WiFi or 3G/4G connection and download your offline songs one last time.
Also, since you mentioned that you mostly listen to songs you've downloaded, it's a good idea to toggle Offline Mode on after downloading their songs. There's more info here.
Let me know how this goes 🙂
I've also experienced this issue for a while now - slow loading times for locally downloaded playlists and albums when connected to a poor/inconsistent internet connection. It's not an issue based on factors like device version, app version, cache, etc. It's simply a result of a poorly thought out feature from the developers side. The issue is that the app always attempts to fetch the latest data from the Spotify servers, even if the content is already downloaded locally. A simple fix is obviously to instantly load any locally downloaded content on request, and silently attempt to download any new data in the background. It's unclear why Spotify have yet to implement a fix for this
Hey @Olllyyyj,
I’m sorry to hear about this. I will make sure to pass your feedback on to the right folks. I'd recommend following the steps that I provided in my earlier replies to see if that makes a difference.
