My Question or Issue

I have made a playlist with songs from local files on my computer. When trying to download the playlist on my phone all of the songs from local files are skipped. My computer and phone are turned on and connected to the same network. I tried on my iPad and everything worked fine but on my phone, all the "local files" songs are skipped. If you have any advice, thanks in advance.

Hey folks,

In order for the local files to download on your iOS device, you need to have toggled on Show audio files from this device in the app's Settings > Local files. In addition, make sure that Spotify is allowed to access your local network. You can do this in your iPhone/iPad's Settings > Privacy > Local network.

In case the issue persists, try creating a new playlist on your PC and download it again on your iOS device to see if that does the trick.

Hope this helps. Cheers!

so usually in the past i had songs as local files on my laptop that was was then getting on my phone as well but now its not working. usually i would add them on a playlist on my laptop and then redownload that on my phone to get them playing there

Hi @August_e,

Thanks for reaching out. Local files are, as the name implies, only local to the specific device. While it was possible in the past to synchronize them between devices on the same network, this is no longer the case. As these files are not uploaded to Spotify itself, they are not synchronized in any way. You need to have the files present on your phone as well in order for them to work. Check out the steps on how to use local files on iOS here.

Hope this helps.

Oh look its me again, Another bug because this app is really going downhill.
Still havn't got my previous issue fixed after SEVEN MONTHS

But now i've got even more issues.
First off, I've again tried Reinstalling spotify, and for whatever reason, it'll get stuck at some point downloading my playlists. Its been stuck at 923/1327 Songs for 20 minutes before i shut down the ipod.

And with the local files, i have the "use local files" option enabled on the ipod, but if i add a local file from desktop to my playlist, i can't play the file on the ipod, and if i add the file to the playlist on the ipod, i can't play it on desktop.

Genuinely tired of all these God damn bugs & glitches, Specially after more than half a year of dealing with them to only be greeted with NO FIXES.

already enabled local files, it was literally the exact first thing i did when i reinstalled spotify on the ipod.
And i've looked Through the settings, there's no 'privacy' Menu in the settings.

Hey @Wuffles__,

Hmm, that's odd. If you're using iOS 14 or later you should see that option as described here.

Are you able to locate the Spotify app in your iPod's settings? If so, try toggling on the access to your Local network from there:

Take care.

Went into the options there and checked, Local network is Already enabled, local files still don't work, Tried turning it off & on aswell, Nothing

Hey @Wuffles__,

Apologies for the confusion.

Syncing local files between devices is still available as an option but is gradually being deprecated so we can't guarantee it will work as expected.

Instead, we'd recommend transferring the files to your phone using these steps and re-adding them to your playlist.

We hope this helps. Let us know if you need help with anything else.

The steps on the page you've Redirected me to do not apply to the Ipod because there's no "Files" app on the ipod.

Honestly at this point i'm just giving up with this app, None of my issues have been fixed for several months, I really don't see a point to paying for something that doesn't work.
