Local Files are unable to play despite being downloaded

Local Files are unable to play despite being downloaded

The same three songs refuse to play on my phone, even though they play fine on my PC where they are hosted. If I go through the files app on my phone, I can find the files there and verify that they are downloaded and they even play perfectly fine there, but in Spotify they are greyed out and don't even give an "unable to play" message when I tap them. I have purged my downloads in the spotify settings and deleted all my songs in the files app and redownloaded them. Upon redownloading all my songs, the three I had problems with worked initially, but the problem came back after reopening the app.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community and welcome!

First, we'd like to mention that the feature allowing the syncing of local files between devices is in the process of being deprecated, so it's expected to see some issues with it. To be able to play the Local Files, they need to be stored on the device you're trying to play them from. If this is happening on your mobile device, then make sure the audio files are on your device's memory.

If they are, then go to the app's Settings and disable the option Show audio files from this device, then scroll down to Storage and select Clear cache. Once done, restart Spotify and turn the Local files back on. If that doesn't make a difference, it's best to run a clean reinstall of the Spotify app by following these steps. No worries, you won't lose any content but you might need to download your offline songs again.

Let us know how that goes.
