Podcast episode list starts at bottom

Podcast episode list starts at bottom

When I click on certain podcasts, it always scroll me to somewhere near the bottom of the episode list, which is really annoying because in order to browser the newest episodes I have to scroll all the way up to the top.

Hey @davidhcefx,

Thank you for reaching out here in the Community.

This sounds a bit odd and we'll do our best to help you out.

First up, we'd recommend logging out and then logging back in two times in a row on your phone. It sounds a bit odd, but it forces a sync between the account and your device.

It is also a good idea to clear cached files on your device by following the steps in this article.

In case you're still experiencing this, could you to reproduce the issue with a different account and share the results with us?

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

Ok, I’ve already logged out and logged in two times in a row, cleared the cache and the problem persists. Since I don’t have another account, maybe I’ll try creating one  to reproduce.

Hey @davidhcefx,

Thanks for letting us know 🙂
Keep us posted!

I’ve created a new account and here’s how to reproduce it:

  • Click on a podcast
  • Pick one episode and add it to the “My Episodes” playlist.
  • Play that episode, and pause at around the middle.
  • Restart the app.
  • Click on the same podcast again
  • Observe that it would scroll us to the position of the unfinished episode, which is the issue.

Hi there @davidhcefx

Thanks for the clarification.

We can confirm that the behavior you described is expected since it's intended to get you to the unfinished podcast episode faster. However, if you don't want to keep listening to that episode, you can sort the episodes list by date or any other sorting of your liking to see them in the order you want.

Hope this helps. If you need a hand with anything else, the Community is here for you.

@Eni I already knew that there’s an option to sort them by Date, but that doesn’t help solving the problem. The problem is, how can I browse the newest episodes without scrolling across tens of thousands of episodes? Please stand in users’ shoes before providing issue replies, thanks!

Hey @davidhcefx,

Thanks for getting back to us.

We've passed on the feedback to the relevant teams at Spotify. You don't need the scroll to get to the top, you can simply use the sort feature as @Eni mentioned. If you sort it 2 times it gets you where you want to go. That should be faster than scrolling.

Here in the Spotify Community, we're actively working on helping our users. We're always testing and reproducing the behavior (if possible). Our top priority is to answer your questions and resolve your issues quickly.

Take care 🙂

Really? You mean to sort by the same order two times? Because it didn’t seem work:

Hey @davidhcefx,

Thanks for your reply and for the info shared.

In this case, would you mind changing the language of the app to English? It's kind of difficult for us to follow the steps you've taken since the app is in a different language. You can find out how to change the language in this article.

Once you've done that, send us the video again, so we can check it thoroughly. We really appreciate all the info and effort you put into helping us isolate the behavior you so kindly described.

Keep us in the loop!

Oh, come on… Can you please just try it yourself? Have you tried clicking the sort button two times before leaving this reply? Why on the world do you need to understand another language in order to replicate this simple issue? I mean, those steps I performed are from your own colleagues, and you should fully understand what your colleagues are talking about. By saying that “sorry I cannot try it since it’s in another language” is just a bad excuse.

You are being passive and refuse to even try to reproduce it.

Hey @davidhcefx,

Thanks for getting back to us.

I've tested this on my end and was able to reproduce the behavior you've described. It's indeed expected, however I understand how it can be inconvenient when you have a lot of podcast episodes to scroll through.

I've now forwarded your feedback to the relevant team here at Spotify, but please note that I can't confirm when it will be addressed. In the meantime, just make sure to keep your app up-to-date.

Let us know if you have other questions.

This needs a solution ASAP. It is very a annoying feature.

Just to chip in, this is annoying and and the issue still persists even when marking all episodes as played!

It would be ok for me if at least the „Unplayed“ filter was persisted when switching between podcasts.

A year later and looks like it’s still not fixed.

Seriously! What the heck!
