Reinstate the custom iPad version

Reinstate the custom iPad version

Hi,

i apprectiate that that maintaining the iPad version requires extra resources, but the recent update that had removed the iPad version and replaced it with the iPhone version is not acceptable.

The iPhone version is a massive downgrade and makes very ineffective use of screen real estate. Its laughably bad on my iPad Pro 13".

Your customers deserve better and whoever the bean counter is that you allowed to make this decision needs to realize that it's not acceptable for a premium product. It's sufficiently bad that I will be moving to an alternative platform, one which isn't driven purely by bottom line, but actually cares about customer experience. So long, I've been a paying subscriber and daily user for years and this is it for me.

Additionally describing this change in the patch notes as something about moving some buttons and a smiley face is hugely disingenuous. It's akin to the united ceo describing beating up a customer as re-allocation. Corporate BS at its finest.

I agree with you.

Sorry to hear you’re not a fan of the new iPad look. The new design will help Spotify deliver new iPad features faster. Stay tuned!

Hi iPadFail - if you have the older version saved in iTunes, you can restore it. Just delete the version on your iPad now, then sync with iTunes and trasnfer the old version back over. Just don't do the updates anymore and you'll be fine.

Well of course it will help Spotify add features faster, they have dropped down to one version. However a good interface was a very significant feature they dropped to achieve this, and to me more important than anything I can see them adding in the future.

If the app was properly architected the logic could have been shared between versions whilst maintaining custom layout across the device categories. They have degraded the iPad UI to the same kind of poor experience that makes android tablets a joke. A 5" phone interface does not work on devices several times larger.

The fact they lied about the scale of the update and what was happening in the patch notes shows they were very aware of how poorly this was likely to be received.

Sadly I don't have a backup and my iPads are setup to auto update apps, so it's not a sustainable solution anyway 😞

I think jailbreaking is the only solution here to get older versions.

Here is an example of the new game introduced with the update, it's a guessing game where you try to work out which ellipsis matches with which title.

You guys should be ashamed of this UI. It is a MASSIVE retrograde step.

I said the same thing... Life was so much better with a display that made sense.

I agree, there could be some improvements made for the app in landscape mode, but in portrait mode the way it is now with full size columns is much better.

Here is what it looked like before: (video screen capture posted in this thread)

And here is what it looks like now, much better with the extra space and everything fitting on the screen:

I wanted portrait mode... my dash did not accommodate it unfortunately

When will we benefit from this redesign and get a working, usefull layout?

if it will be within a few weeks i might wait, otherwise there are other services more userfriendly awailable on the market.

With the recent update, one of the my favorite features of the old iPad Spotify experience was removed: shuffle play within Folders.  With the new update I am reduced to shuffling from only one playlist at a time.

Odd update; i.e. to take away funtionality.

Where are all the "new features" that have been promised? It's been months since this change was made and the iPad app still has even fewer features than the iPhone app.

Losing the tablet-specific layout has really degraded my user experience on my iPad.

Yet another recent disappointment.

Are you guys actively trying to lose paying users? Sure seems like it.
