Spotify App Randomly Starts Playing Last Track On Its Own

Spotify App Randomly Starts Playing Last Track On Its Own

I have the latest version of the Spotify app (version 4.9.0.833) on my iPhone 5S running the latest version of iOS (9.2.1). The Spotify app has started to randomly start to play the track which I last paused when I start up the Spotify app. It doesn't happen every time I start the app, just sometimes. So far, I haven't been able to determine any common factors around when it exhibits this behavior and when it doesn't. It's very problematic because the song may start to play before I plug my earphones in, so my phone may start blasting music for all to hear.

There is also a similar yet slightly different issues related to Apple CarPlay. When I am listening to Spotify in my car through my iPhone via Apple CarPlay, if I pause a song and then disconnect my phone and/or turn off my car, sometimes the paused song starts playing again on my iPhone within a few minutes after I disconnect from my car. Again, this doesn't happen every time, it seems to be more or less at random. This bug is even worse than the first one, because I don't even have to open Spotify or even take my phone out of my pocket for this bug to happen. Today I had just sat down in a meeting at work when suddenly Spotify on my iPhone started blasting Fleetwood Mac's "Sentimental Lady" from inside my pocket. That was the song I was listening to in my car via Apple Car play and had paused just prior to disconnecting my phone from my car. Please fix both of these bugs ASAP, as they are very disruptive.

The same thing has happened to me twice. Most recently, I was leading a sales presentation in a conference room full of customers, with my iPhone on vibrate. All of a sudden Spotify started blasting out the next random song from a playlist inside my pocket. Everyone stared at me while I fumbled around trying to turn the phone off. This was extremely embarrassing, and could have been a distaster if it had been an inappropriate song! Another friend of mine has had the same issue happen recently. If this is not fixed immediately, I'll be forced to change to another streaming service.

This is a CarPlay bug.

When I turn off the car the app pauses the song.

Then when I next unlock my phone the song resumes.

I'm writing this red faced from a doctors waiting room, I've just blasted out some wierd lyrics from Jamie T's "Sticks and Stones" to the room full of elderly and infirm.

Uh!  I am about to switch back to Apple Music.  Spotify continues to start playing on it’s own.  I have the latest version of iOS and Spotify app.  The main problem is that I often airplay to my Yamaha recievers.  It sometimes come on at night when we are all sleeping.  I have updated my receiver but the phone/app seems to be the issue.
