Spotify not restarting after any notification

Device: iPhone 12 Pro

OS: Not sure, but I just bought the phone this month

My Question or Issue:

Whenever someone sends me a message (SMS, WhatsApp, Signal, etc), it stops Spotify and it doesn't restart after the notification plays. I have to manually click the PLAY button again to hear what I was listening to before. 

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Spotify to see if that fixed it, but no go.

That's odd. Could you try logging out, restarting your phone, and logging back in to see if that makes any difference? Also, make sure that there aren't any pending iOS or Spotify updates.

This is happening with my Google Pixel 6 as well. If it's happening with iOS it's a Spotify issue.

This type of issue is commonly related to some damaged cache stored on your device that might be affecting the proper behavior of the app when resuming after a notification. So in this case, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article. 

If the issue persists, include in your next response the OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.

Hi, even I am facing this issue, I tried restarting the device, cleared the cache, re installed the app, but nothing works. When notifications pop, the music stops. Please help!

To get a better understanding of what's causing this, it'd be great if you can share some more details. Do you have any external devices connected when this is happening, for example headphones or speakers? If yes, can you check if they support multi-device connect (are the speakers connected to your phone and PC, for example)? 

Some users mentioned this happens when they receive a notification on their PC, which then pauses the music on their phone - is it the same for you, or does it only happen on one device?  

A workaround I can strongly suggest in this case is to use Silent Mode or Focus to see if the issue persists.

@JevgenijMi can you share some more info as well and try the workaround? That would be very much appreciated ✌️
