Why does my app not resume playing the last song after I close it?

Why does my app not resume playing the last song after I close it?

After the newest update (version 8.7.90) on iOS 15.6.1, I noticed immediately that after I leave the app, if I try to press “play” on the last song I was listening to then the playlist just finishes and I see the Home Screen on the app. And if I try to press “play” from the playlist instead of the song, the play button will be selected as if something is playing but nothing is. If I try to click the playing button to “pause” it will not let me so I have to scroll through the playlist and continue listening by selecting a song.

Just to confirm, is the same thing happening if you log into your account using a different device?

 

In case you haven't, we always recommend performing a clean reinstall as this can help remove any cache that might be causing trouble. You'll find the steps to do so in this support article.

Thank you Novy for your solution! I was never able to try your solution because there was an update to Spotify that fixed my issue.

My Spotify stops playing when I watch a reel or any video on Facebook or Twitter which is understandable but I have to go to the app and press play again even when I’m done watching the video

What's your device model, OS version and Spotify version? Did this start happening after an app or OS update? Have you tried reinstalling the Spotify app?

I am using iPhone 14pro max 

IOS version 17.3

spotify version 8.9.10.606

 

I have deleted and reinstalled twice

Could you check if the app has permissions to run in the background? We'd also like to know if this has always happened or if it started happening after a specific event such as an update. 

 

Additionally, does this always happen when you watch a video? Does it happen with any apps?

It use to work fine I don’t know when it started but it got my attention last week 

I have reinstalled it

i have cleared cache

i  dont know what else to do
