[iOS iPhone] Scrolling in large playlist resets scroll to top

[iOS iPhone] Scrolling in large playlist resets scroll to top

Device

iPhone Xs Max

Operating System

iOS 15.0.1

Hi,

I have a large playlist (1109 songs) that I share with my group of friends. In the latest Spotify version, when I scroll in this playlist, I reach a point a little less than half way through the playlist and the scroll resets to the top. This appears to happen both when I scroll quickly, but also when I scroll (very) slowly. However, if I scroll quickly, the scroll resets much earlier. I can't reproduce this in smaller playlists, which leads me to believe that the size of the playlist is important here.

Not sure if it's relevant, but the entire playlist is downloaded locally on my device. Also, while my Spotify playlists do use a lot of my total storage on the phone, I do have lots to spare (in total, I have used 63 GB out of the available 256 GB).

Hey @Gogo01,

Thanks for the post.

Can you check if this is happening both while your online and when Offline Mode is switched on from the settings menu?

Cheers.

Hi Alex,

Running Spotify in offline mode (for clarity: I ran it in offline mode by enabling Airplane mode on my phone) made the bug go away. When I disabled airplane mode and ran Spotify with an internet connection again, the problem reappeared.

EDIT: Just turning on offline mode in Spotify (without airplane mode) also fixed the issue.

Hey @Gogo01,

Thank you for keeping us in the loop.

It's also worthwhile to try to log in and log back out from the app twice in a row. This may sound odd but it's how the app does a refresh and could resolve potential cache-related issues. If this doesn't help resolving this scrolling issue, then it is always a good idea to try tackle the issue with a clean reinstall of the app. This is also safe step to take, as it will not affect your created playlists, but you'd need to redownload them again to recover their offline availability.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on.

Hi,

I've tried both suggestions and neither have worked; the issue remains even after the clean reinstall.

By the way, thanks for the help and suggestions! I appreciate your effort and hope we can find a good solution 🙂

The same thing is happening to me so i think it’s a bug on ios. I’m on my iphone, also tried both and it didn’t work. Mostly happens when i press play or pause or when i pick a song

I have the same issue in ios 15 with the iPhone 13 pro. Super annoying

This is happening to me too.

Clean reinstall did not help.

Hi folks,

Thank you for posting on this thread.

We'd like to check this behavior backstage, so please share with us the model and OS version of your phone, as well as the Spotify version you're running.

It'd also be very useful if you send us a video showing the issue. This will help us investigate further.

We'll be on the lookout.

Spotify version: 8.6.68.1328

iOS version: 15.0.1

attachment size is too small for my recording but I do the have exact same issue as the user above. Same issues happens if I try to use the “slider”

Hi folks!

Thanks for sending us this info.

@s-vlq_1ffy5v, could you let us know which troubleshooting steps you've already tried? First up, it's well worth running a clean reinstall to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble. This one is more thorough than the usual one. Also, could you let us know the make and model of your phone?

@david304c, could you let us know the exact Spotify version of your device? Additionally, we'd like to know which troubleshooting steps you've tried so far. Lastly, would you mind letting us know if this is only happening with large playlists?

We'll be on the lookout.

Attempted a clean reinstall but issue is still occurring.

Hey @s-vlq_1ffy5v,

Thanks for keeping us posted:)

It's a good idea to try scrolling through the playlist on another device to see if that makes a difference.

If nothing changes, if possible, could you share with us the URI of the playlist? Does this happen with different playlists? We'll look into this further.

Keep us in the loop.

@Ver @Eni, @MafeG, @Kiril, @Alex

Wanted to let you guys know that the latest Spotify update seems to have fixed the problem for me. Scrolling is quite laggy, but at least it doesn't reset to the top 🙂 Thanks for the patch!

Mine seems fine now too

Hey folks,

We're happy to know that everything is working fine now.

Remember to always keep your app updated, so you don't miss any fixes or new features.

@Gogo01 If you feel the app has some lag, you can try with a clean reinstall one more time and see how it keeps behaving.

Don't hesitate to give us a shout if you have more questions!
