99 cent deal with giftcard

99 cent deal with giftcard

I just signed up for spotify the first time through facebook about 10 minutes ago.

I receieved a 10 dollar gift certificate for christmas and also activated premium with that.

It now says my account expires January 31st 2015?

I don't get it.  What happened to the three months for 99 cents? and why was my whole gift card used for only one month of premium.

Sorry, but you cannot use a gift card to get the deal.

It doesn't say anywhere that you can't use a giftcard, but I did some testing and it looks like when you click the giftcard option it redirects to the http://spotify.com/redeem page which does not support the offer.

I have passed along feedback to the payments team suggesting they make it more clear what payment methods are accepted for the offer.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

I don't work at Spotify so there is nothing I can do about this. I'm only a volunteer here to help out on the forum.

I suggest you contact support about this:

I attempted to use a $10 Gift Card to take advantage of the Holiday Premium Service - 3 Months for 99 cent Deal ONLY because it was listed AS AN OPTION on the payment page.  There were many options shown on this payment page.  Credit Cards.  Pay Pal.  Spotify Gift Cards. etc.  My banking institusion does NOT allow use of my debit card for charges in certain states, which Spotify's  MUST be in one of these states, as it did NOT allow the charge to my card!!  My next option woudl have been PayPal, BUT i figured, why Not try the Spotify Gift Card opttion, I mean Spotify IS giving it to me as a way to pay...AND that would be the MOST secure way possible!!  So, off i went to 7-Eleven to get my $10 Gift Card.  AND the next thing i know, it charged $9.99 for ONE month NOT 99Cents for 3 months!  THIS IS Illegal and its i called BAIT and SWITCH.  A scheme that CAN lead to law suits.  i have sent an email to spotify for assitance in this scheme, but NOW while I wait, i cannot use Spotify AT ALL because their legal terms state that i cannot cancel this premium subscription or get my $$ back IF i use the services at all!  Well thats one way to get people to STOP using your service 100% i guess.  This doesnt seem too logical AT all. : (  i am very upset because it is very misleading  and using bait and swtich is one of the oldest and illegal tricks in the book to take advantage of customers.  IF Using a Gift Card Does NOT allow you to take advantage of the Promotional Offer that you are attempting to purchase and take advantage of then it should NOT be given as a payment option on the payment page!!

Had the exact same problem as above with them listing a gift card as a payment option for the 3 month for $0.99 promotion and then not honoring the promotion. There are no exclusions on the gift card at all or on the website. This happened to me a WHOLE YEAR later (December 2015), so I can only assume that this is intentional on Spotify's part. I sent an email, and the only thing they were willing to do was give me an extra month. So 2 months for $10 (hardly a deal compared with what i thought I was getting). They just said "gift cards aren't allowed as payment for the promotion." I'll never renew again.
