My Question or Issue

I have been messaging with the chat support and email support about this issue but i’m curious to see if it’s happened to anybody else/what the resolution was. I am the primary account with premium and have never had any issues with my account/payment method. I recently switched to premium duo and the person i added has had issues logging in, his account being locked for fraudulent activity (apparently they do a lock every so often which i was not even aware was a thing?), and now he can’t reset his password bc it says there’s no account with that email but also can’t create a new account because the email is associated with an account already. His account is less than a month old and i’ve had mine almost 10years so im curious why he is having so many issues.

Here are some suggestions that might help in the meantime:

Check if the email is correct

  • Ask the person to try resetting their password at Password Reset.
  • Make sure the email entered is exactly the same as the one used to create the account (no typos or extra spaces).

Try logging in with other options

  • If the account was created using a social login (Google, Apple, Facebook), ask them to try accessing it through those methods.
  • If Spotify says the email is not associated with an account, it might be worth checking if they used a different email.

If the account was blocked for fraudulent activity

  • Spotify sometimes blocks accounts due to suspected misuse, but usually allows recovery.
  • If they can't reset the password, it's best to contact Spotify Support again to check the account status.

I have an account that I have been using that I can't log in, and I can't get a password reset due to the email associated with the account "This email address or username is not linked to a Spotify account". But that's totally not true! If the account was blocked by Spotify because they believed it was fraudulent then they should inform me but it seems like they stealth block or lock accounts (where the "stealth" term applies to them not informing you about anything and just do it).
