Having never had it myself, I am not certain how the $0.99 trial works. If you paid for all three months up front, then no, no need to wait. You will still get your three months because you've already purchased them, and the student discount will be applied after. If you are paying on a monthly basis, then I would not cancel, because that may end the trial offer. Hope this helps.
Hello! No need to make a new account. Simply cancel your current subscription (you can do so here), and then go to the proper page for your country's student discount (US discount). Sign up through there, and starting next month you should be billed the reduced rate. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hello! I figured I'd piggyback on this. I cancelled my premium membership in order to sign up with the student discount. My SheerID was verified and everything looked great, but Spotify says I'm ineligible for some reason. Any ideas as to why? I'm not sure what else to do...
Thanks!
Hello, @brittoid! there is currently an issue with the student discounts that Spotify is looking to crack down on. For the sake of being thorough though, please check the following:
1) Is your profile set to the proper country? For free users this is done through your profile settings, and for premium users through your payment methods. If either of these aren't correct, go ahead and fix them, and then try to re-apply again.
2) Are you sure you're trying to enroll through the right webpage? The link for the US discount is here.
I'm assuming all that is in order, so what I suggest doing is getting in touch with support. Note that if you receive an automated email directing you to the community and/or help boards, make sure you reply directly to that email (even if it is from a no reply address) and support will get back to you as soon as possible.
Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon, but for the time being that's all I've got. Hope this helps, and let me know if you need anything else!
