Moving from Premium to Family account

Solved!

Moving from Premium to Family account

Hi all,

I have a personal premium account but I would like to move over to a family account. I have received a family invitation and logged in directly on the Spotify website the using the invitation link and my facebook account. On the website my facebook account now appears to be associated with my new family account.

However, on my phone I also log in via facebook and nothing appears to have changed. When I log into my account on my phone I am simply told "Premium". There is no additional information saying it is my familty account or othewise... it just says "Premium" like it always has. I can still see all my old playlists which I would like to keep. I don't know whether my phone is logging into my old premium account or my new family account, but I assume it is still logging into my old premium account.

When I log in to the Spotify website and check my account details  I am told that my account is "Spotify Premium", and the body text below specifies "family subscription".

So it looks like my phone/spotify/facebook combination is showing me my old account with all my playlists, and the website/spotify/facebook combination is logging into my family account.

The problem is that I would now like to cancel my old premium account and go with the new family account but I'm worried that I will lose all my playlists.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for a recommended course of action at this stage?

Cheers.

Yes, that's what I say.

I know this can be a bit confusing, your phone shows "Premium" because with the Premium for Family you're receiving the benefits of Premium.

If you're the Family Plan admin you'll be charged just for the Family subscription, if you're just a member of the Family plan you won't be charged for the Premium subscription 'till you leave the plan.

Hello @solomon1971, welcome to the Spotify Community!

There's no need to worry when you join a Premium for Family plan your Premium subscription becomes inactive, if you leave the Family plan then your Premium subscription will become active again.

Thanks for the quick answer 🙂 OK, great. So you're saying that, technically, I don't have two accounts... it's that my existing account has been changed to a family accounts?... even though on my phone it still only says "Premium" in my account settings?

So will that mean that my payments for my premium account will stop and be replaced by payments for my family account, and i won't be paying for two accounts?
