Problem with account location for Duo

Hi Community,

I recently started a Duo subscription with my wife, and we live together in Sweden. However, when we tried to confirm our address, we noticed a strange issue: my country is set to Italy (I am Italian, but haven't lived there for 13 years), while hers is set to Finland (where we lived until 3 years ago. I can’t change my country since my subscription is managed through Google Play, although my payment card is issued by a Swedish bank. Meanwhile, she has a free account, and the only country option available for her is Norway or Finland.

We’re not sure how to fix this mismatch and would appreciate any guidance on how to resolve it.

Welcome to the Spotify Community, and thanks for reaching out to us here!

In this situation, the best option for you would be cancelling your current Spotify subscription, waiting until your account get back to the Free tier and then changing your country/region setting to Sweden. You can do it by following the instructions on this official support article:

Once you change your country setting, you should be able to subscribe to Premium again, so do it using a valid payment method issued in Sweden. If you opt for the Premium Duo again, you'll be able to invite your wife. Just make sure she also changed the country setting of her own account to Sweden, and the addresses must match.

Thank you so much for the reply. But also assuming that the country gets fixed on my side, how can I fix my girlfriend's? She has already a free account and can choose only between Norway and Finland, no other option. Thank you!

Hey!

For her, the best course of action would be to switch to a different browser or device. It’s also a good idea to double-check if the device's location permissions are turned on, because the country options displayed to her should be based on her current location.
