My Question or Issue

I've been trying to update my email on my Spotify account for the last week now, however I keep receiving the message that "We're sorry, that email is taken." However, this email is from an old account I used to have as well. To get around the message, I ended up signing in on the old account and requesting it to be deleted in order to use that email moving forward. It's been a few weeks now since I received the confirmation email that my account was closed, however I keep receiving the error that the original email is still in use, yet even when I try to sign in with it, it says that account does not exist. Contacted support but they are pushing trying to update the email back again, so any support would be greatly appreciated on what to do next.

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Community. I'll try to help you clear things up.

 

Once you delete your account, it can take Spotify up to 30 days to delete all the data linked to your account. This means it's possible that during this period of time you're still unable to use your email address to create a new account. I'd recommend waiting to see if you're able to create your new account with this email address once the 30 days period has elapsed.
