Very frequent password reset requests

Very frequent password reset requests

My Question or Issue

 Hi,

Someone/something very frequently requests password resets for my account. Is there a way to block password requests from this source? It's annoying to receive spam like this and I wonder whether someone is trying to access my account.

Hey @endah1, and welcome to the community.

Hope you're doing great!

In this case, I'd recommend changing your passwords as soon as possible to make sure your account is safe. You can reset your password here

If you think someone has gained access to your account, I'd recommend checking out this support article for more info and the next steps to take.

I hope this helps! If you need help with anything else, just let me know 🙂

Sorry but it seems you misunderstood my question, I do not think someone has access to my account.

Hey again! Thanks for clarifying this.

Unfortunately, I don't believe it's possible to block password reset requests. If you think this might be something other Spotify customers might enjoy, make sure to head in the Ideas Exchange and posting it here.

Also, if you'd like more information on how the Ideas Exchange works, make sure to head here.

On another note, this could be due to different user with a similar email address trying to reset their password. In that case, it'd be best to try the steps here.

I hope this helps! If you need help with anything else, just let me know 🙂

Not helpful at all, looks like copy-pasted answers and you show no sympathy

I've received three password reset attempts in the last day or so - someone is definitely trying to fool me into clicking the button and resetting the password.

The lack of security for user accounts is so bad.

Hey folks,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re feeling this way and thanks for bringing this to my attention. Can you please send me a screenshot of these password reset requests you’re receiving? If it’s through email, it should only arrive through an email ending with @spotify.com. If it ends with something else, it may not be a legit email.  You can always follow these best practices when detecting a fake vs real email.

Spotify takes security very seriously, and also provides tips on how to protect your Spotify account. I will ensure to pass your feedback on to the right folks.

I hope this helps, and happy holidays!

Hey there folks,

Thanks posting in this thread!

Just to add to what @Billy-J mentioned, our tech folks are currently investigating an issue related to some users receiving password reset emails, which sounds similar to what you're describing. Feel free to have a look here for more details.

It's worth noting that we believe there is no risk for your accounts and that the emails can be disregarded.

Cheers!
