issue with making new account after cancelling

I recently tried to make a new spotify account so that I could register as an artist, but when I made it on my desktop it gave me one of the lengthy, random usernames. In an attempt to customize my own username I cancelled the account (which to my understanding is the same as deleting it) and I tried to remake the account on my phone because I read that you can only customize the username on the mobile application. However, the problem I keep running  into is that it says that the email I'm using is already being used on an active account and it prompts me to sign in instead. When I try to sign in it tells me that either my username/email or password are wrong, but they are not wrong. What do I do to get out of the limbo state of having an account that exists but doesn't? We'd suggest you try the steps listed here in order to retrieve access to your Spotify account. Make sure you go through all the steps to cover all possible scenarios. 

 

If it doesn’t do the trick, we’ll provide you with further help.

It's because spotify gives you like a week if you want to reactivate your old account and you do that through the email. So for the next few days that email is still associated with the deactivated account until it fully deletes.
