Bluetooth devices name not being displayed by android app

Bluetooth devices name not being displayed by android app

  • Spotify doesn't display Bluetooth devices name anymore, I mean earbuds and external speakers DO WORK but the app doesn't show the name of the device or the headphone symbol and green letters like it used to, it shows the blank space like it was playing music trough the phone's speaker.
  • Premium plan , Android 10.

Hi there @leonardott,

Thanks for reaching out. Could you please provide us the following:

  • Is this on all devices or only on that specific Android device?
  • Is this with all Bluetooth devices or only specific one?
  • When did this start happening?
  • Screenshots or a video of the behaviour. If the files are too large to attach here in the Community, you can send them to us via Google Drive or as unlisted YouTube videos.

With this information, we’d be happy to investigate.

Keep us posted.

I have the same problem, so I'll post thr details.  This happenes on my Samsung S9. I've verified that it works correctly on other devices. I have reset Spotify by removing all the data in system app settings.     This applies to all bluetooth devices. On video with my samsung galaxy buds 2 pro as example.  I started like a month ago and persisted through many Spotify app updates.

Hey there @furious_pl

Thanks for reaching out about this and welcome to the Community.

First up, we suggest that you try logging out and then logging back into your account twice in a row to see if that makes the difference. We know it sounds odd, but this will trigger a sync between your account and device.

If the issue persists, it's well worth running a clean reinstall of the app to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble.

Let us know how it goes.

  • It happens on every device (I've tried with 2 phones already)
  • Tried with 2 pairs of earphones and a bt speaker with the same results.
  • I just noticed it like 2 months ago
  • You can notice on the screenshots that earphones are connected however they don't appear on Spotify screen (they are working tho just no info)

Hey there @leonardott

Thanks for getting back to us and sending us this info.

In this case, could you ask a friend or a relative to log in to their account on your phone and check if they can replicate this behavior with their account?

On another note, would you mind giving a different internet connection a go to check if the same happens?

We'll be on the lookout.

Just FYI, clean reinstall and couple of relogins solved this problem for me. You migh want to give it a try 😉

Cheers

Hey!

I tried to relogin a couple of times but to no avail. Then I did remove the app data before uninstalling. I couldn't find the com.spotify.music folder anymore so went wint fresh install from the play store. Then did copule of relogins on new installation for good measure and problem was solved! Thank you 🙂

My Question or Issue

I recently got a new phone and earbuds to go with it and I noticed something odd about how Spotify is treating the Bluetooth devices. When I am playing something it no longer shows the Bluetooth connection on the bottom of the screen. It's trivial but I did like this feature, I often listen to music in quiet places and having the peace of mind from a quick glance was nice. I have tried reinstalling the app, unpairing the devices, rebooting the phone etc. I tried both the new earphones and the old on another phone with the same version of the app and it does show on that phone. Here's a picture for reference.

Is anyone else having this issue. It seems like Spotify is not recognizing the fact that it's playing through Bluetooth.

Hi!

As you might see above your post I had the same problem some time ago. And I can confirm the problem is back with S25 series as I also just switched from old S9.

This time reinstalling trick didn't work.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the reports.

Could you let us know the exact OS version and the Spotify version currently running on the affected devices?

@furious_pl, some screenshots of how things look from your end would also be helpful.

Keep us posted!

Hi, you can see on the photo below the version of spotify.
I have a S25 ultra one UI7. previously I had an iphone pro 16 max.

As I said in my previous post, it's impossible to choose the device output on spotify. On iOS it was possible to choose which device I wanted.
It is a problem for me because I have carplay on my car but when I connect my phone I have to choose my audio device on Spotify.

I hope there will be a solution soon.

i think we have to wait, spotify add the option to choose wich output device we want.
i've search since long time for solution but nothing for this problem on "S25" new phone.

Hey @Dkilla,

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info shared.

It seems that the issue you're describing is different from the one posted originally. In the screenshot you added in your previous message, we can see that you've 2 different Bluetooth devices to choose the audio output as they're connected to your phone. Keep in mind that the app will only show the name of the device that is currently playing the audio, but you cannot switch the audio output source from the Spotify app. To change the audio source, it's necessary to select the device from your phone directly so the app shows the correct name at the top.

Also, we can confirm that the option to select other devices to play your playback is still available on the app, but the devices need to be connected to your same Wi-Fi network for the app to recognize them and give you the option to select it as seen on the screen below.

Hope this clarifies things a bit. If anything else comes up, the Community will be here for you .

Also when I go into the phone choose the audio sound of my audio doesn't work eit

But I'll try to put WiFi in my car and And see if it works.
