Can't log in because it says username and pw does not exist

My Question or Issue

Hello,

I resently bought a smartphone and installed the spotify app. Wenn i try to logg in, it says that the combination of account and pw does not exisit - the problem: it does exisit and is correct. I can logg in with the same combination online and at other devices (laptop & tablet). 

I already tried to reinstall the app, restarted my phone, changed pw, tried email, username and user id.

How can i fix this?

We understand that you already tried reinstalling the app, but we'd like to suggest a clean reinstall. This is more thorough than a regular one and can be helpful to get rid of any cache that might be causing trouble. 

Also, you mention that the device is running Android 8, it's worth making sure that it doesn't have any pending system updates.
