After installing 1.1.0.112 which wiped out all my offline songs, I tried to redownload my playlists. first try filled up my internal memory. I reset the cache and tried one playlist and indeed the songs are being saved onto the internal memory (32GB) and not on the larger SD Card (64GB) even though the sd card has much more free space.
the device is a note 3. Kitkat 4.4.2. what should I do?
Well.... new Version.... and the same problem 😞
with my Note 2 with 4.4.2 with the old version the offline track go to SDCard (i have used the SDFix)
today... new update!!
Reinstall Spotify new version......... playlist offline.... only on internal memory (3Gb free) and my sdcard have 26Gb free previously buyed only for the offline function...
There is a possibility for use the offline function on Sdcard... there is no problem if are necessary to make some manual modification... but... i need this 🙂
Hello!
Problem Solved! (on my device)
with this step i have solved my situation:
1. i have erased all data from the app...
2. From Setting --> i have delete all data + cache
3. Uninstalled the app from settings
4. reboot telephone
5. reinstalled Spotify Music
6. Offline work on SDCard
I remind this:
My phone are Rooted with 4.4.2 (leaked Stock) and i have modded the system with SDFix to permit all app to write on SDCard.. without this... all app (spotify included) don't have the permission to write on ExternalMemory device.
For any question i'm available.

Same Problem here! Please help, otherwise I´m no longer Premium-User!
Hey guys!
If you're experiencing this, please take the following steps:
1. Open Settings in your Spotify Android app.
2. Click Delete cache and saved data.
3. Click OK.
4. Click OK again.
5. Sign back into your app.
Worked! But why had I to go to a Help-Forum to get used to it! I was realy disappointed about Spotify!
This didn't work for me, have cleared the cache a number of times and it still insists on downloading offline music to the internal memory rather than the MicroSD card on my Galaxy Note 3, the MicroSD has more than 14GB free space and the internal memory has less than 8GB free space after clearing the cache and signing in again on the app.
as described in the op, I've done that and yet songs were copied into the internal memory and not the SD Card.
I am experiencing the same problem.
After updating spotify to 1.1.0.112 songs won't save to external sdcard. I formatted the sdcard, reinstalled the app, cleared cache and data several times, but still no luck.
After installing, the app creates a folder on the external sdcard ( Android/data/com.spotify.music ), so it has access to write.
Very strange. On my opinion it seems like a bug on the app and not on the Android OS as some people suggested.
OS: Android 4.4.2
It seems like I was able to fix my issue. here's what I've done:
1. Uninstall Spotify.
2. Download Spotify from m.spotify.com as an apk (not from the play store).
3. login.
4. clear cache.
5. Set your download quality and download songs to SD Card.
After this, I've noticed that songs are being saved to SD Card. I hope this will work for everyone.
I'm not particularly keen on downloading the apk outside of the Play store, especially since Spotify themselves advise against this.
Quote from the Android update information page:
As always, Spotify does not recommend installing Android applications from anywhere other than: Google Play or Amazon Appstore.
Does it make you uncomfortable for any reason besides not getting automatic updates? I imagine you aren't uncomfortable downloading programs for your computer from non app-store locations, and this is no different.
It doesn't make me uncomfortable, but this (caching to the MicroSD) was working fine on the previous version that has now been removed from the Play store...so it's really not something that should have been broken by Spotify in the first place!
I guess I misinterpreted "not keen to download outside the play store" Quite obviously I'm not saying they are free from fault for breaking it.
Same problem here... apparently the uninstall didnt uninstall the cache/save data or didnt reuse it.
