Problem with Spotify and Ford Sync

Problem with Spotify and Ford Sync

I have a Samsung Note 4.

Ford vehicle that I connect via Bluetooth and Ford Sync.

Used to work wonderfully.

Two days ago when it connects I get a Spotify/Ford screen that takes over my phone.  Can't get beyond this screen to play lists and such.

Anyone else seen this screen and know how to get back to Spotify.  Highly frustrating.

I turn off bluetooth.  Restart spotify.  Choose my Playlist turn bluetooth back on.  Then I can at least listen to my playlist. But that screen comes back.  I don't understand why it has started this.

I'm having the same problem and it's super annoying. Have you found a solution?

I too am having the same problem! I am looking for an answer, but I do not know if it is a spotify thing, or maybe a ford sync thing...

I did some additional reading on this forum and on the Ford website yesterday, and discovered that it was due to an upgrade Spotify made to its app.  It now syncs up to Ford Syncs Applink (a version of Sync I didn't even realize I have).  Once it syncs, it allows Ford Sync to take over the app completely, and you have to control it through Sync.  I downloaded the Ford app which gave me some instructions on how to make that work.  Definitely not the simplest, or most intuitive, way to control the app.  I can now see artist/title and my playlists through Sync.  But not as simple to connect the phone to the car now as before.

This thread has some suggestions to disable: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Help-Android/Disable-Ford-Applink-with-spotify/td-p/1364662

I haven't tried to disable it yet.

Very annoying.  I hope Spotify does indeed rollback this particular setting, or gives you the option to turn off this setting in a future update.

I found that if you open spotify and start playing music before you turn your car on it won't block you out. Hope that works for you guys

This solution does not work. Myself along with others have tried this and various other things. It seems to be a bug in the update they released several days ago. Spotify needs to respond ASAP so we know they are at least looking at the issue. I haven't been able to use my spotify in both my Ford cars since the update....

I also have this problem and I am really looking forward to a quick fix from Spotify.

Also: the Spotify / Ford screen continues to block access to the phone even after I leave my car. I have to force close to Spotify to be able to use it again.

This is so annoying, can't use Spotify on my Ford anymore 😕 Just hate that black Spotify/Ford screen coming up

Yeah this is pretty annoying. I'm not downloading another app to control this. Spotify needs to unscrew this monkey.

Same problem here as well. It won't let me change the playlist either. I hope they fix this because it's extremely annoying. I'm considering unsubscribing from Spotify Premium. >_<

Same problem.

Please fix it - Spotify.

Same issue here. This is not acceptable at all and makes my subscription useless in my truck (which is about 60% of where I use Spotify).

I cannot change to a different playlist the moment I turn on the ignition in my truck without disabling bluetooth, force stopping Spotify, opening Spotify, selecting a new playlist, re-enable bluetooth, then hitting play.

I'm pretty triggered about this so I'm going to wait one week for Spotify to address this.

Adding to the list of frustrated Spotify/Ford users, this has to be fixed, sooner rather than later.

Same problem, it has even caused me to have to turn off my phone completely because after I leave my truck and it has been off for a while I still have a black ford/ Spotify screen of death. Only way to get rid of it to restart phone.

Same thing here. I only use Spotify in my car and now it doesn't work.

It's back to the stone age again.. There you go Fred Flinstone L0(

I have had this experience a couple of times also, not much i could do about it at that moment (you know, with driving on the road and all), but most of the times i just closed Spotify (hard close), disconnected the bluetooth connection, reconnected the bluetooth connection (most of the times by disabling and enabling bluetooth on my Android), restarted Spotify and that was enough to get it going again.

I am having problems with the bluetooth connection when I connect the spotify. Pairing is okay, but the multimedia audio button on the bluetooth connection details is not clicked. I try to click but it turns off.. This only happens when I try to play a song.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the spotify and got to connect .. but after some songs again lost the bluetooth connection

That lock screen with the ford logo and s potify logo is like that now to make it so you can't use your phone to control it while your driving, this is obviously an attempt to help curb distracted driving. Great job spotify and ford! Put your phone down  while driving people
