Hey,
I am a premium user and I am having few playlists saved offline on my Nexus 4.
My problem is that during the playback there is some kind of distortion / random noises / kinda scratch sounds over the tracks.
I already had the data and app removed and reinstalled. No change.
The noise is random. Sometimes I can listen to couple of songs without an issue but sometimes it constantly happens. It is regardless of the song.
To me it seems there is some sort of glitch in the encryption of the saved files. Seems to happen more often on the move. Maybe if the phone is switching GSM towers or between WiFi and GSM.

Seeing a few reports of this; can you try the below guide and if you're still having issues post back here as it may be something which needs escalating.
Please read the guide linked below for details on getting a completely clean install of the Spotify app. This should be the first step and can help resolve issues such as:
- Black screen on startup
- Offline data not storing on SD card
- Random crashes or FC's
- Track degradation or skipping
- Playlists and tracks no longer available
[GUIDE] First step of troubleshooting - Clean Install
This whole thing did not help. I still experience this. There is also no difference whether the screen is on or off.
I recommend you contact Spotify Support using the form here.
You will get an automated reply at first, however if you need to chase them just reply to the email as it does get monitored.
Hey kacenko,
yeah. Same thing over here. They insisted on an issue with my phone hardware/software in the email communication.
I still have those issues on my phone (Nexus 4, Android 4.4.4, rooted, custom kernel) and on my tablet (Nexus 7 2013, Android 4.4.4 or 5, rooted, custom kernels).
It doesn't matter which device or software. After I installed Android L (5) on my tablet, I tried Spotify again but same result.
It is only a problem with playback through Spotify. Other music players (Google music, ES File Explorer, BS Player...) or even video players (Netflix, Twitch, Youtube...) do not have any of such problems.
Even after a full re-installation of my Nexus 4 (had some other software issues) and keeping the default settings of Spotify, the problem exists.
If I would know how to properly trace the cause, I would be glad to provide it here.
I am having this problem now, too. I'll be listening to a song on my windows laptop, my ipad or my iphone and all off a sudden there will be this huge GLITCH in the middle of the music.
It should be noted that I did not have this problem until about a week ago, I have made no changes to my laptop settings, have not downloaded any programs and audio from all other sources (you know what I am talking about) works just fine. Also, I experience these sound distortions on both my iPad and iPhone as I mentioned. I do sympathize with Spotify as they are having to deliver their product over a myriad of hardware and operating systems. However, I am paying for premium and the glitches and bugs are just piling up. I love Spotify but it is getting hard to justify paying for it in its current form.
It is now happening several times during songs, making songs unlistenable.
