My Question or Issue

Since the 1.48 update Spotify Connect no longer works for me.

I can see the device in the Spotify app, but it never establishes the connexion: the icon flashes in grey for a while and after a while (timeout I suppose) it stops trying and keeps streaming on my phone.

Thing is I have another Spotify Connect compatible AV (a Denon 2300) and when I connect to the same ethernet connexion there is not issue with it.

For the sake of testing I tried switching to manual DHCP and IP but it didn't fix.

I did contact Yamaha but their issues support seems pretty archaic.

Did you ever face this issue?

I don't know why it is not in the list as sold as Spotify Connect compatible by Yamaha. Anyway, the Yamaha support provided me with a fix who is just to reset the network configuration.

Just go to setup > functions > Initialize , select "Network" and press Enter.
It takes few seconds then "Completed" appears ont the screen and the on-screen output as well.

It worked for me.

Note: in my case, it didn't change any configuration parameter (ip, DHCP or subnet) but Spotify Connect is working again. Maybe it is an issue with the 1.48 firmware update who broke something, but in the end it is a good solution.

Hey @tgendulphe,

Thanks for posting here.

We checked and the device, that you mentioned, doesn't seem to be on the list of supported devices.

Because of this, we can't guarantee that there will be no issues with Spotify as this device is not supported.

As a workaround, you can try playing music via Bluetooth.

Thank you very much, had the same issue with yamaha rx-v4a and spotify connect.

Spend a couple of hours resetting almost everything, from router to musiccast app, except the receiver itself.

Finally, the network thing worked.

Well, the described solution doesn't work all the time.

It also need to be performed every time your internet connection modem restarted (in my case it every night).

I found that you need the physically unplug your receiver from socket first and after it again reset the network settings. Then it works.

I should say that problem started to appear after latest firmware update (2.01) for my RX-V685. I didn't have it before, at least not so often.

Until a few weeks ago, Connect worked flawlessly with my Android device, my iOS device, my Windows device, and my Yamaha RX-V679 receiver. Now, even though the receiver shows on my Connect list, none of my other devices are able to transfer music to that device. It also fails to go into the Spotify source when I manually try to do that through the receiver app.

I am unable to have my Yamaha Receiver R-N600A's MusicCast connect with Spotify. I use my iPhone to access Spotify but my Yamaha device does not show up in Spotify. I also have a MacBook laptop and Spotify won't recognize the Yamaha receiver as a device. Help! When I bought this receiver I was told it works with Spotify.
