Dear Spotify,
There is an issue with the Spotify App on new Samsung TV's. After 2 minutes the TV screen will go into sleep mode, the music will continue to play but the screen will turn off. This is not a settings issue with the TV.
Having spoken to Samsung, the issue is that the Spotify App isn't telling the TV that media is playing. The screen sleep mode is an internal setting that cannot be adjusted on new Samsung TV's.
Spotify is the only app that does this. There are no permissions that will fix this. An App update is required from Spotify to fix.
Regards,
Dan
The same is true for me.
Please do a Samsung Smart TV app update soon!
Hey folks,
Thanks for reaching out to the Community!
Did you notice this after a recent update to the Spotify app or the TV? It's worth checking if the same behavior occurs when playing podcasts with video. If you haven't already, try reinstalling the app to see if that does the trick.
In case the issue persists, please share the following:
We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
I have the same problem, but not recording my screen for 300 seconds to show u it
Thanks for the reply @Alexsmith194.
Just to confirm, have you checked if the issue occurs with shows that have video? What about songs? Something else that's worth trying is opening the lyrics to see if that prevents the screen from turning off.
Also, make sure you're running the latest updates for your TV + the Spotify app.
Keep us posted on this 👍
Just bought a brand new Samsung tv and have Spotify playing and the tv keeps going to sleep. All Sleep timers, energy savers, and other modes making the tv go to sleep are turned off. Everything is updated as well. If anyone has a fix that would be greatly appreciated.
Hey @Zas34,
Welcome to the Community and thank you for joining the conversation.
To continue investigating this issue, would you mind checking if this happens with all songs (with and without video available) and podcasts as @Yordan mentioned previously?
Also, remember to include in your next response the make, model, OS version of your device and the Spotify version you're currently running, along with the screen recording (if possible) to continue investigating the case.
We'll be on the lookout.

Hey @habibeaaa,
Thanks for the info!
We've forwarded this to the relevant team at Spotify, we'll keep you posted on any updates in this thread.
Cheers,
I've been having the same issues with the Spotify app on my Samsung TV since purchasing it 3 years ago. Any resolutions?
Looks like there was an update in the last week of March that installed onto my TV but still no fix for the issues. As of today, if a song is playing without video, the TV still goes to the screensaver after two minutes.
