Echo Show 5
My Question or Issue
I have connected Spotify link to my Echo device (brand new, updated), and it started stuttering. At first (in the first hour), it was only once per song- the music would stop for a second, the screen would refresh and the song would continue. Now it's up to 4-5 times per song making Spotify unusable on my Echo device.
I have:
1) Unlinked, restarted, linked again - nothing
2) Unlinked, factory reset, linked - no help
3) Unlinked, relinked, rebooted router - nothing
4) Unlinked, rebooted router, rebooted echo, relinked - nothing.
Is there a fix for this? This only happens on my Echo device, not on my computer or phone. I use voice commands to start music. I also tried starting the music in Alexa app. Something is definitely wrong with the Spotify link since my router has a stable 300+ mbps wifi connection. And no, I can't change between 2.4 and 5 ghz because I have a unified connection through a Spectrum router.
Help, I don't want to get rid of either Spotify or Echo!
Hey @tsukihime,
Thanks for posting here in the Community!
If it's possible, could you check if a different network such as hotspot for example would affect the playback? It'd also be very helpful if you could try with another Echo device if you have one.
It's also worth trying with another Spotify account if those steps don't change anything.
Thanks for the cooperation and keep us posted.

My Question or Issue
I am having a lot of issues trying to get Spotify to work on my new Echo Show 5. Alexa wouldn’t recognise my playlists so I had to unlink the skill and re-link which then prompted Alexa to announce she was going to play the right playlist but no music then played.
After resetting the Echo Show again, un-linking the Spotify skill numerous times & re-linking I finally have seemed to got somewhere.
Ocassionally after playing a few songs of my playlist the old Echo Show 5 would stop playing the songs, it would pause them. I really hope this issue has been resolved now - I will keep an eye on it.
Spotify, please sort out these issues. If this is the pain I have to go through every time I buy a new Alexa enabled device I’m going to have to think about switching to a rival.
Does anyone else experience similar technical issues like this?
Got a similar issue. As it's difficult to explain I've taken a video to explain it as it's unbelievably annoying!!
1. When you start spotify it takes ages to actually start, despite Alexa saying "ok, here's spotify".
2. Towards the end of every song it pauses for a second or so and then appears to refresh the screen and then it starts again.
(Please excuse the heavy breathing during the pauses! I've got a cold! 😂)

Have this exact same issue with our Echo Show 5! Been experiencing this bug since we got the device around Christmas. No other Alexa device we have does this! Your video is exactly what happens to us as well.
Hey folks,
Thanks for your replies and for the info shared.
In this case, as mentioned above, does this happen if you change the internet connection you're using? Is this happening over WiFi? 3G/4G? Both? If possible, you can create a hotspot on your phone and connect your Echo device to it, to see if you notice any difference. Give it a try and let us know if changing the connection makes any difference.
On another note, we'd suggest you double-check if there are some updates for the software version of your Echo Show. You can do it by following the steps in this article.
Lastly, did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event such as an OS update? If yes, please send us the details.
Keep us in the loop!
I am having the same issues... just got the latest Echo Show 10 and it refuses to play Spotify. I have done all the steps to disable / re-enable the skill... turn the Show on and off / unplug / reset it, switched wifi networks, tried using my iPhone hotspot as well as connecting directly to Bluetooth. Simply will not work. This really seems like Amazon trying to kill Spotify in order to push their own Amazon music, which I'm pretty sure is an anti-trust violation. When will these monolithic companies stop trying to force us into their exclusive and non-compatible eco-systems!!! I'm thinking of shopping around a class-action lawsuit about this, or filing a complaint with the FTC.
Did anyone find a solution to this. Having the same issues
Hey there folks,
Thanks for reaching out!
So that we can get a better view of what's happening, could you send us some more details of what you're experiencing from your end? For example - are you experiencing issues only when starting playback, does playback randomly stop, etc.
It would be great if you could also let us know what troubleshooting you've tried so far, if you haven't already.
We'll keep an eye out for your replies!
What’s worked for me is to close out of Spotify, reopen and then use the “Alexa, connect to Spotify” voice command and follow her prompt to select the device. Sometimes have to try a few times. Have also found sometimes the volume just goes really low, in which case I use “Alexa, louder”, sometimes more than once. Seems like an Alexa bug to me vs something with your WiFi etc. One thought I just had writing this-I do have older Sonos devices on the same network in some rooms that I also connect to Spotify with (flawlessly I might add), I wonder if that interferes somehow?
