My Question or Issue

I got an email on January 8th, 2025, regarding suspicious log-ins to my account originating from Brazil, the USA, and Madagascar. I looked into my song history to check if this was real, and believe it or not, somebody or somebodies had listened to around 10-15 songs. I was thankfully able to change my password and have not had a problem like this since then.

The real issue is that my Spotify algorithm now seems to think I love to listen to Brazilian pop music, which, who knows, maybe I might, but at this moment in time I'd prefer not to listen to that music. My "Daylist" is now around 3 times a week dedicated to this extremely niche music, which I don't want to listen to. Is there any way to delete this period of time when a malicious person was using my account to, I don't know, boost somebody's listening stats? I'd like to make the algorithm remember who I am, at least... Or is the solution just to wait until the algorithm finally figures out that I just had a 5 hour phase? On another note, why does the algorithm push this music so hard on me when "I" (the malicious person in Brazil) just listened to it for a bit? Seems a bit heavy handed!

P.S.
While I'm here, I must ask: Could you please develop a "Play next" button? That would be great and is way overdue.

Thanks

Hey @atli_freyr,

Thanks for reaching out via the Community and welcome to the forum!

It's great that you've already reset your password, but in order to additionally secure your account you can also check and follow the info in this help article.

I understand it could be very annoying when the algorithm pushes content that you don't usually listen to and in order to normalize the recommendations that you'd see in Spotify, it's recommended that you listen to your favorite tracks and artists as much as you can. Especially helpful is adding more content to your playlists and Liked songs in order to improve the algorithm.

Another important detail is making sure that you don't have the Private session feature on, when listening to your favorite tunes.

Lastly, you mentioned that you'd like a "Play next" button developed and there seem to be other users that think alike. You can check this Live Idea, give it your vote in order to show your support, as well as subscribe to the thread for any updates.

Hope this helps and we're here if there's anything else we can assist you with.
