Family does not work. We are both in the same country but Spotify says not..

Solved!

Family does not work. We are both in the same country but Spotify says not..

My husband invited me to Family share.

Both our subscriptions are in the same country - but when trying to activate the code spotify refuses that we are. What to do?

Each family member has to have a separate username and password. So the first step is to create yourself an account (if you haven't already).

I suggest creating it with an email address (not the one used for Facebook, if possible), since you'll be able to pick a Spotify username / password. Using Facebook will not let you do that, and that sometimes causes problems.

You'll now have a Free account, so the next step is to join your Family plan through your husband's account (He's the one who pays, so he'll be the Family Admin).

Let him send by himself the link generated through INVITE MEMBER BY LINK, instead of letting the system send the mail.

Accept the invite logged in with your own username, and you'll be set. Each will be able to listen to music at the same time, and will have separate libraries, playlists and friends.

Check your country setting in your profile pages in both accounts.

If your country codes appear different in your profiles, for example, one of them in uppercase and the other in lowercase, the system may treat them as different countries.

Invite by link did it for us 🙂 Thank you

You're welcome. Glad your accounts are up and running. 🙂

I have the same problem.  It will not let me sign in.  I created an account first using FB, but that did not work, so I created an account with my own username and password.  Now it does not accept the code.  What should I do?  Should I have the admin remove me and resend the link?

Hey @help12345,

Tell him to send by himself a new link generated through INVITE MEMBER BY LINK, instead of letting the system send the mail.

Remember you must have the same country in your profiles. If your country codes appear different, for example, your account has it in uppercase and his is in lowercase, the system treats them as different countries.
