Paid for premium with student discount and still shown as free member.

Hi all, I'm new to Spotify and thought it was a wonderful deal to pay $4.99 using the student discount to upgrade my account to premium. However, I was charged to my bank account and still unable to access the premium options. My Spotify account still shows that I am a free member. I deleted the app and reinstalled it many times. I also have no other usernames that could be interfering with this problem. Help!

Hi @Sarahxl0vely. If your method of payment shows a charge but you never completed the transaction, and you do not have premium features, then you are most likely seeing a pre-authorization charge. The short version is that these are holds on your account to ensure that it does, and will contain enough funds to cover the transaction when Spotify actually claims the funds. If the transaction was never completed then the hold should be dropped within a few business days and no funds actually taken from your account. If you're interested in a more complete explanation then the Wikipedia article linked above should suffice. I have been charged 5.34 for a discounted student membership for the past 6 months and cannot access that account to cancel it. I have a free account that I upgraded for the free trial so that I could hopefully download music, but wasn't successful due to low storage on my phone. I even purchased a sd card with double the amount of gb hoping that would work, but it didn't. I've since canceled the premium and am back to free. I have bank statements showing the money coming out every month but can't seem to access the account to stop the payments.
