Username is a mix of letters & numbers.

Hey guys!

As the title says, my username suddenly transformed into a long string of letters & numbers and I have no idea how to revert it back to normal. I already tried clearing the cache, installing and uninstalling the app on mobile & desktop but still no luck in fixing it.

I'd greatly appreciate it if someone could guide me on how to fix this and display the proper name instead of this infuriating string, at least on Facebook.

Your username gets auto-generated and cannot be altered.
What you're maybe looking for though is the display name 🙂

My main issue in here is not the fact that it's auto-generated and cannot be altered.
What I'm struggling with is displaying my name on my Facebook profile. If you take a look at the attachment you'll see that it's not displaying my name but an automatically generated string. Is there any way I can display my Spotify profile on Facebook using my actual display name, not this weird string?

The display name is showing correctly everywhere except on my Facebook profile. Hopefully, there's a simple solution for this.

Thanks for the reply and the clarification.

This is something that needs to be solved on Facebook's end most likely and I don't think that you can alter your preferences about which (display name or user name) is shared to other apps from Spotify itself.

Although it could be a matter of privacy settings. You might have opted out of sharing your data with Facebook, and this could be causing the issue. You can check this on your account page here. You should also make sure that on Facebook's end here, Spotify has to be allowed to have access to personal data. Please consider these settings carefully.

Note that these changes might take up to 48h to take effect.

My Question or Issue

My spotify username changed itself from my name to a bunch of random numbers!

I have not opted out of Spotify processing my Facebook data, and I've looked to see in my Facebook settings that I have indeed granted Spotify access to my personal information.

My profile is now unsearchable on Spotify as well as all my public playlists. 

What the heck?
