Error: Podcasts in Your Episodes list remaining visible despite not being ticked

Error: Podcasts in Your Episodes list remaining visible despite not being ticked

I am in NZ using Premium on computer app and android app

Samsung laptop Windows 10

Android phone app

There are 2 podcasts in my Your Episodes list that will not disappear although have been unticked for adding to Your Episodes. Now when I re-tick them, they are added again before the tick disappearing by itself and the '+' showing again. There is an error with these 2 episodes, from different shows.

I have re-installed the app but same problem remains.

Any ideas? 🙂

Hey there @sethompson,

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Community 🙂

Just to confirm, does both the Android app and the computer app behave in the same way when you're trying to remove these 2 episodes from Your Episodes? Also, if you try adding a few new episodes, do you encounter the same issue?

It's worth clearing stored cache from the app (if you haven't already), as stored data from previous versions may interfere with the app's performance at times. Once it's done, make sure to log out from the app and back in again. Completing these steps should resync your account info.

Another thing that comes to mind is checking with another internet connection. For example, if this occurs on both devices and they're currently connected to the same network, you can try using mobile data on your phone for a bit to see if you notice any difference.

Should this issue persist, however, would you mind sending us a video or photo showing how things look from your end? As this is a public forum, just make sure it doesn't include any personal info.

Let us know how you get on!

There are Podcast Episodes that I have listened to but I am unable to get them out of "Your Episodes".

They are marked as finished, Aren't added to any playlists and don't have "Add to your episode " marked, but I am unable to remove.

This is happening both with android app and desktop application.

Hey @Window_94

Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community.

Could you send us all the info @Maria asked for previously? We'll take a closer look.

Also, could you let us know if this started happening after a specific event such as an update?

Lastly, sending us the exact make/model, operating system and Spotify version of your devices would come in handy.

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

  1. Confirmation of Issue Across Devices: Like I said it is two devices one Windows app and the other Android App
  2. Recommendation to Clear Cache: I have attempted to do this on both devices and it is no help
  3. Testing with a Different Internet Connection: this is happening at home, at work or if I am on my mobile data
  4. Checking for Specific Triggers:So the 20th December episode of The Daily Briefing was the first that was effected
  5. Request for Device Details: Google Pixel 6 Pro - Android 14 AP2A.240905.003.F1 (App version: 9.0.2.459) and Windows 11 Enterprise 23H2 22631.4460 (App version: 1.2.53.440.G7B2F582A)

Let me know if you need anything more.

Hey @Window_94,

Thanks for the reply & for all additional details here!

To make sure we cover all bases, could you give the Web Player a shot to see if you notice any difference?

Another thing you can try on the mobile app is to remove the episodes using the 3 dot menu (instead of clicking the checkmark/+). Just open Your Episodes > click on the 3 dots next to the episode you'd like to remove > Remove from this playlist. Make sure to restart the app on both devices once it's done, which should sync the content between your devices.

Keep us posted on how it goes!

OK, 3 dot menu solution works now. I had done that before and it hadn't.

I don't know if anything was fix in the app but it is now allowing me to remove it.

I have re-added the episode and can now remove it again normally.

Awesome, great to hear that it's working again @Window_94!

We're just a post away, should anything else pop up.

Cheers 🙂

My Question or Issue

To reproduce the issue:

- Add some podcast episodes to Your Episodes (in Spanish, Tus Episodios)

- Remove them via the De
sktop app.

- Check the list again via your phone. The episodes still appear there, but they're not really added. If you try to add them again, it does not work, yet they still show up in the list UI. The desktop app also shows this weird state.

In this picture, the two first episodes are in this state. (The third is ok, for comparison)

Hi there @rbarbadillo,

Thanks for reaching out. We'll be glad to investigate this for you.

This is quite odd and specific and we haven't seen anything too similar recently. We tested this on our end and were unable to reproduce this, so most likely this is some kind of caching issues on your devices. Consider performing a clean reinstall on both to clear this up, this should reset any cache and force a sync between all devices and the servers.

Hope this helps.

Yes! Actually it has stopped happening in my iPhone, so I guess it's a matter of reinstalling or waiting in my computer. All good.

Thank you for taking a look! Have a good day.

I listened to a podcast episode and wanted to remove it from my „your episodes“ playlist, but when i click on the green dot to remove it, it is shown as not being in said playlist and thus i can‘t remove it

I have the same issue since yesterday.

I could delete them from my windows app.

It seems to have only started today, but I have the following issues:
The list of episodes I have added to "Your Episodes" is incorrect, and not showing the right number added on the app, but correct on webplayer.
I cannot remove a podcast from "Your Episodes" in the app, but can on the webplayer.

Is there an ongoing issue with the app (android) is this is incredibly frustrating, and not a good sign if its going to continue not to work correctly?

My Question or Issue

The playlist won't update and the app doesn't let me add/remove episodes + the number of episodes shown doesn't change.

So it seems like an app thing since it's happening on android too

On the Android app I am unable to remove podcast episodes from my active playlist. I can remove the downloads but the episode is still showing a check mark. When I go click on that, it shows the playlists but nothing is checked so I cannot remove the marking
