[Samsung Smart TV] Spotify doesn't work

Solved!

[Samsung Smart TV] Spotify doesn't work

Sent a message sometime ago, but don't see it appearing here.

Once more;

Got a Premium account registered with a name and a pasword (not a Facebook). Tried to use the app on my Samsung ES7000. From thre attepmts to use it got the following messages:

1. There seemed to be a problem with my account, needed to visit www.spotify.com/samsung. Tried again

2. Could log in, could find the music, but couldn't play any - an erros message (I guess an ID2 or something), Tried to log in again

3. Got the message again, that there is a problem with my account, needed to visit www.spotify.com/samsung. Visited. Nothing - Premium account is active, nothing wrong, no messages or warnings.

Posted a message to the forum - it didn't apprear. Got a message that I have a private message and to read it I need to follow the link and press on the envelope. No envelope to press on when I follow the link. Can't find anything that looks like private message box.

If you're sure it's the correct firmware, you can always download and install from a USB drive. Details are on the samsung site and in the manual.

That's rigth! I have updated the tv from menu level. Afterwards the spotify app worked without problems !!

Today I was finally about to upgrade TV firmware via USB but suddenly latest version of firmware on samsung support site changed down to 1036 (with today's release date!). Because I already have 1040, upgrade can't be performed. Actually given the version numbers it would be downgrade.

However I can finally see the spotify application in the samsung apps but - installtion does not finish. It still shows "installaling" even after few minutes. Reinstalling Smart HUB using menu or resetting TV settings did not work. Any idea why the installation does not finish?

Curious. Does it offer to downgrade the firmware from the support menu? All I can suggest is trying a factory reset before contacting Samsung.

Sure I did (both TV reset and Smart HUB reset - they seem to be independed of each other)

Anyway - positive news. Today I was able to install  spotify application and it's working.  Too bad it does not honor keyboard attached via USB.

I find a that a lot of the samsung apps are cranky in terms of input. Some of them seem to think we're using a telephone keypad for input! Anyway, really glad to hear you got it to work eventually 🙂

Don't know if this is the exact right topic, but at least I hope someone can help.

I get a lot of ID3 errors on my Samsung TV. When I play a song, after a while(sometimes just a few seconds sometimes a minute or so) is starts stammering until it won't play any further at all. When it has stopped for a couple of seconds the ID3 error message pops up. I can go to the next song and it will start again but that's not what I want to do ofcourse. This is however not always happening, sometimes it just plays as it should be,

Hi. Have you checked that you have the latest firmware installed (menu//support/software update)? If it is up to date, is your TV accessing your network through cable or wifi?

It has version 1040, which is the latest if i'm correct? The TV is connected with a cable to the internet.

The current version depends on your country/model. Did you actually try to update?

Oh oke, yes I did that. It says that there are no updates for me right now.

There were some issues earlier today but these should be fixed now. If you are still getting ID3 errors, is it possibly a problem with your internet connection?  Restarting your router may help.

Well it's not only today. Earlier today it was pretty bad, but the last 1-2 hours i could listen just ok. On laptop i don't have these problems, via wifi on the same router. Maybe just nothing can be done about it. 😕

One last thing you can try is to remove the spotify app and reinstall it (where have I heard those words before?).

Hi.

Bought samsung 5700 tv and spotify doesnt work. I can log in, when i select some albums on first screen, no tracks load. I can see my playlists, but if i select one, track names stay "loading". Tryed reinstalling spotify, but same.

did you solve the problem ?

Hi,

It's been over a week now that I can't run spotify on my samsung UE40F8000 Smart TV.

I run Samsung TV firmware 1118 which is the latest available and I run Spotify App version 1.02205 which is the only available version (which is very bad compared to the iphone App).

So I uninstalled and reinstalled spotify, but no luck. The app will start, but will remain on spotify logo without switching to the standard menu.

Internet access is fine.

Since I listen a lot of music on the TV with my home hifi setup, I consider revoking my spotify premium access since it doesn't work correctly, and hasn't been updated for ever.

Thanks for your quick input.

Marked as solution

ok, quick update / solution : I had to completly reinitialize my smart hub : menu/settings/smart features/reset smart hub

And then reinstall spotify.

At first I had the message that the microcode was not compatible. I had to turn off / turn on the TV and finally it worked.

So now, please include in the spotify samsung smart TV  app the same features as the ones available on the iphone app.

Thanks

When i try to update it says that this function is not available

Try this...

1. Go to spotify.com, login, and setup a device account. It will give you a user name and send you an email to set a new password.

2. Log out of your facebook sign in on the smart tv and enter the new user name and password.

It appears the social media login for spotify on the smart tv has an issue. This solved my issues. I hope it helps you.
