My Question or Issue
I have seen that this issue was addressed by another user in 2020 and was reported as solved, but I have been experiencing this problem for a long time now (a few months). I have four playlists on my account, all of them public. However, when looking at my profile from a different account, two of my playlists do not appear, despite it saying that I have four public playlists. I have asked both my friends and family to test if they can access my other playlists, and no one has had any success. The two playlists are called "Writing Inspiration" and "An 8-ball Told Me I Would Never Find Love", and they respectively have 28 and 21 items. I'm not sure if that information is helpful, but I'm wondering if it may be because of their length that they aren't viewable. I'm hoping that this gets looked into again, and I thank you for your time.
Hi there @2_Many_Fandoms_lol,
Thanks for reaching out.
To start off, it's important to make sure all the settings are set up correctly. If you just click "Make Public" on a playlist, this only enables the possibility of others to access it if provided with a link. "Make Private" makes it so nobody besides you can view the playlist, even with a link. To make sure that these playlists are publicly visible on your profile, you need to enable the "Add to Profile" option. You can check this article and this article for detailed info.
Please follow that and make sure the settings are correct. After making changes, make sure to wait a while before testing again as these settings don't always take effect right away.
Let us know how it goes.
I re-checked the playlists; both of them have the option to "remove from profile". I assume that would mean that they've already been added to my profile and should be visible. I checked out both of the articles you recommended, but neither of them suggest anything that I haven't tried already. No matter what I try to do, nothing seems to work. I've tried removing them and adding them again, I've tried sharing them, I even tried to just refresh the web browser to see if it did anything.
So long story short, they are public and on my profile, but for some reason other people still can't see them (even if searched by name).
Hey @2_Many_Fandoms_lol,
Thanks for your reply.
Could you send us a screenshot of the options you can see when clicking on the 3 dots under both playlists? Make sure that all options are visible. We'll take a closer look. You can attach them to your next response by using the Insert image option in the post editor.
We'll be on the lookout.
Hey @2_Many_Fandoms_lol,
Thank you for keeping in contact and for the shared info.
It's possible that the playlists could be set as "Private" and that's why no one else can access them. So in this case, since this cannot be done from the Web Player, we'd recommend following the steps to make them "Public" from the desktop app or the mobile app by following the steps mentioned here. This option would make the playlist accessible for anyone.
If you've already performed this action, please include in your next response as well a screenshot where we can see the option "Make private" displayed on the 3-dots of the mobile/desktop app.
We'll be on the lookout.
I installed the free app, but I still don't have the prompt for setting my playlists as private or public. The third image is what is on my profile page if I scroll down to my playlists. It says that all of them are public already, so I still don't understand why this is happening.
Hey @2_Many_Fandoms_lol,
Thanks for the cooperation!
Can you try creating new playlists that are public, copying the songs from these two playlists and transferring them in the new playlists in the desktop app? You can select all of the songs in the existing playlists by clicking on the first song in the playlist, pressing and holding the Ctrl and Shift buttons and clicking on the last song. Then you can simply right click and choose to add them in the new playlist. If that works, then you can delete the old ones to avoid confusion.
Let us know how it goes.
I remade 8-ball, but when looking at my profile from my phone account, it still doesn't show up. I shared it with my phone account as well, but it says that it's a private playlist.
Thanks for keeping us in the loop @2_Many_Fandoms_lol!
Just to confirm, did you create the new playlist while having the option Publish my new playlist on my profile switched on? You can check this in the desktop app > Settings > Social. While this setting is switched on, any new playlists should automatically be added to your profile.
Try toggle this option on, if you haven't already, and then create a new playlist to see if you notice any difference. Once it's done, make sure to sign out from the account(s) in the app and then log back in again, as this should resync the account info.
Also, keep in mind that if a playlist is published to your profile, but you make it private at a later occasion, it will no longer show up for other users.
Keep us posted on how you get on!
When going to settings, the only options I have are for "Language" and "Display". I logged out and back in again, but there was no change.
Hey @2_Many_Fandoms_lol,
Language and Display are the only settings available in the browser app. It seems to me that you're still using the browser's Web Player instead of the desktop app!
Please try all of the abovementioned steps once more but from the desktop app. To do so -
You can download the app from here -> install it (if not already installed) -> open the app, not the browser player -> log in -> go back to the start of this discussion and retrace the suggested steps 🙂
I believe the only error here is that you're still using the Web Player in your desktop browser instead of the possibly already installed desktop app, which is causing all of the confusion.
Hope this helps! Keep us posted 🙌🏼
