Spotify Says I’m Abroad when I am not

My Issue

So for Christmas this year I got a gift card for Spotify premium for a whole year. I set up the account the same day and it’s been working just fine. However, earlier today I tried to go on the app, and I was logged out. I thought this was a little strange but even stranger when I try to log back in, it tells me that I can only use Spotify abroad for 14 days, and to update my location on the Spotify site. I go on the site and I can’t find the place to update my location anywhere, and it’s also telling me that my account is free now even though it is not. This is especially strange as I have not so much as left my city since I set up the account. Additionally when I go to look at my playlists on the browser extension, it shows that I have none, which worries me quite a bit that they’ve been deleted somehow. This is my first time posting here so I’m not entirely sure how this works but I would really appreciate some help here, thanks.

Hi @notsowell ,

Thanks for reaching out to the Spotify community!

Firstly, I would just like to confirm that you are the sole user of your Spotify account? Some who share accounts from different regions could cause this issue.

Secondly, to change your country/region settings, you can look at this link.

If you scroll to the bottom of the link's page, it tells you step-by-step how to change your country settings.

Let me know how you go! 😄

Regards,

BK

Hello BK,

Thanks for the quick response. I am indeed the sole user of this account. I
partially found the issue and then ran into another one. so it turns out
the email i was logging in with was not the premium account i have been
using, hence the lack of my playlists and premium. however when i got the
user name from a friend who was following my desired account and tried to
log into it again, it said every password i entered was wrong. When I try
to follow the steps for when a password is forgotten, it requires an email,
but the only one I have basically ever used is the one for the other
account I was trying before. It's very strange to me that this email is not
the one linked to my account because i use it for everything. I am not sure
if there is a way to reset my password without email, or to link a new
email to my desired account. My account's username is Abendego if that
helps in any way.

Thank you so much 🙂
Lauren

When I want to log in to my account on my Samsung S10 phone, it says I can use a free Spotify account in a country or region other than where my account is registered for up to 14 days. but I am not Abroad
