[Samsung Smart TV] Spotify doesn't work

Solved!

[Samsung Smart TV] Spotify doesn't work

Sent a message sometime ago, but don't see it appearing here.

Once more;

Got a Premium account registered with a name and a pasword (not a Facebook). Tried to use the app on my Samsung ES7000. From thre attepmts to use it got the following messages:

1. There seemed to be a problem with my account, needed to visit www.spotify.com/samsung. Tried again

2. Could log in, could find the music, but couldn't play any - an erros message (I guess an ID2 or something), Tried to log in again

3. Got the message again, that there is a problem with my account, needed to visit www.spotify.com/samsung. Visited. Nothing - Premium account is active, nothing wrong, no messages or warnings.

Posted a message to the forum - it didn't apprear. Got a message that I have a private message and to read it I need to follow the link and press on the envelope. No envelope to press on when I follow the link. Can't find anything that looks like private message box.

Got my fingers crossed for you guys 🙂

Is someone working on this issue? I miss some solution regarding my 5000-series Samsung TV
Marked as solution

Try deleting the spotify app and updating your tv's firmware again (menu/support/ update firmware online). I have a 5000 series and I did this two days ago and everything is working ok now.

Hi I have a new samsung smart tv f8000. spotify worked for one night now I get the same error message that something is wrong with my account and go to the sptotify/samsung web page. I did there is nothing wrong. It may be coincidence but it seemed to stop working when I signed up for a samsung id

Does anyone have a solution?

I have the same problem--Spotify was working fine on my Samsung TV, then this morning it gave me the "issue with your Spotify account" msg.  Spotify works fine on my PC and Samsung phone, but has quit working on my TV.  I contacted Spotify, they said it was a Samsung problem.  Samsung ran me through some troubleshooting over the phone, and when nothing worked, said it was a Spotify problem.  All other internet apps work on my TV, so I think it is a spotify problem, but no one can help.  Can anyone say 'Pandora'?

Hmmm.........I'm getting a Samsung F7000 next week so I'll be looking to you guys to help me out 🙂

Spent an entire day. Samsung says they know nothing about this problem. Hey1111 do you know if yours stopped working after settings up a samsung account?

Getting same here; worked fine for weeks, suddenly today an error. Updated my firmware and uninstalled/reinstalled the app; it lets me log in and I can see the normal interface but with the red error message up top, then it kicks me back to the login page. Haven't made any changes to my account and it works fine on all my other devices.

Having had the same frustrating problem that actually was resolved a few days ago I just thought I'd check my spotify again after reading these, but it's actually still working fine.
I was getting an ID:2 error message. After many frustrating days talking to support this is what eventually worked for me;

Uninstalled spotify from TV.
Updated TV firmware to latest.
Updated Smart Hub to latest version (this took away all my apps in the process anyway)
Reinstalled Spotify app
Logged in to Spotify app mes SPOTIFY details NOT via Facebook login details.

Couple of points here: the Smart Hub update only appeared as an option after I'd updated the firmware and seemed to be the deciding factor I getting Spotify working again.

The Spouify app for Smart Hub is developed by Samsung, NOT by Spotify, (according to Spotify support) so the problem appears to lie with them but it would appear that their latest firmware/Smart Hub combination works, at least on my older (last years model) 5000 series which has the same Smarthub as 6000 - 9000 series as far as I'm aware.

Hi everyone,

There's a chance that some of you might not be on the latest firmware version, despite your TV showing no upgrade prompt. To double check, head to Menu > Support > Software Upgrade > Alternative Software and select to continue your firmware upgrade.

I have the latest firmware and smarthub software as recommended. I uninstalled the Spotify app, updated everything on the tv itself, power cycled the tv, and reinstalled the Spotify app. Same error message - there appears to be a problem with your account, go to spotify.com/samsung. I have a premium account that works on all other devices. Please advise!

I am having an ongoing conversation with Tech Support   [ref:_00DD0pxIW._500D0S4e9y:ref ], but they seem stumped by the problem.  Obviously Spotify and Samsung need to quit blaming each other and figure out why the app doesn't work now on Smart TVs, or at least find us a way to reinstall so we can eliminate this issue.

@Patricia

My 'Alternative Software' menu item is grayed out, so that is not going to work.

Update: still not working, alternative software menu also grayed out. I have remembered that Pandora also plays music with the added bonus of actually letting me log in. Will follow up if I think of any other functional ways to stream music through my tv.

This has been going on for months and Spotify haven't done anything. I have the exact same problem and it's been like this for months. I have tried everything I can think of to fix it but no luck. Someone kept saying update the fireware but that's up to date already! ... What to do...

It worked! Thank you! 🙂

I finally set up my UE40 F7000 today. After updating to the current firmware, I installed and fired up the spotify app. The login screen threw me - did it really want my facebook name? But I went for it and tossed in my facebook password and it worked. My playlists all appeared and everything looks great so far 🙂

Hello "elpenil"

How dis you solved the problem?

I also have an "error ID:2" in my new samsung tv when trying to access my Spotify Premium music.

Marked as solution

I first removed the Spotify app that did not work.
Then I updated the firmware on the TV.
Then I turned the TV off and on.
Then I installed the Spotify app again.
Then it worked....

It worked on my tv as well!
Thank you very much!!!!
